Default Computer people - memory

Right my computer has been getting slower and slower till today I thought right sod it i'm going to sort it out.

Done every check and fix known to man, spyware/malware/grayware/viruses/disk cleanup/defrag etc. etc. etc.

Still slow as shit.

Anyway, How do I find out what memory type I have? I don't think 256mb these days still cuts the mustard

Cheers. I have 2 slots.. should I buy 2x 512mb or 2x256mb and if so can someone show me which one to buy as I don't wanna spend too much but just want to speed it up..

Ta.

If you go to http://www.crucial.com they have a memory checker and recommend what memory to get.

Or here http://www.crucial.com/uk/systemscanner/ fot the direct link.

upping the memory will help, don't forget to up the page file size too, this is under:

Right click on Mycomputer > properties > advanced> performance settings> advanced

The lower value should be 1.5 times your memory and the upper limit twice your memory

As for working out your memory type I can't remember but someone on here will know
