IF they are sooooo reliable,,,,,, why do the engines sell BARE for 1500 quid second hand,,,, upto 3k for a basic engine with low miles unmodded

FACT cossies are unreliable,,,,, imagine how worn ANY car is that from the MOMENT IT LEFT THE FACTORY ,,, 20 years later,,,,,,, what you think thats gonna be reliable,,,,,,,,, sorry mate but own a cossie for over a year and DRIVE IT AS A DAILY CAR,,,,, then comment mate,,,,

compare it to a xr2i,,,,, how many engines do people fit to them,,,, what do engines cost BECAUSE OF IT

my BMW has done 145k miles on the original engine,,,,, thats just let go ( fucking cars ),,,,, another engine is gonna cost me 400 quid,,, cause they never go wrong generally and theres no market for them

if they was reliable as you people who have NEVER owned a cossie think,, you would see they engines being worth as much as erst engines/bmw engines/vr6 engines,,,,,, its cause they die they fetch a premium

not un-reliable, normally undermaintaned over boosted and poorly tuned engines, and idiot owners fucking them up themselfs that give them a bad name...

If you look after it, service it properly and don't do stupid things to it it will be fine

And remember, most cossies get driven like they are stolen everytime the key turns, and a 2 litre engine pushing 400BHP ish is under a LOT of stress, so its bound to be a bit more maintainence dependant than a understressed plodding rep-mobile engine - can't really compare it to a normal car mate....

mate badly maintained is a unfair statement,,,,, are you saying that damo's escos aint maintained,,,, you saying dave escos never looked after his car , did smit neglect is car then,,,,,, madrod,,,, what he never either ????

what you are saying is peoples EXCUSES for them,,, fact of the matter is M5's get ragged all there fucking lives,,,, M3's ALSO get ragged all there lives,,,,, they seem to be reliable,,,, the FACT is that cossie are cheep and OLD cars mate,,,,, most cossies are stage 3 mate,,,, not 400bhp,,,,,, infact most 400 bhp cosies aint fucking 400 bhp

what you are sugesting is buy a cossie,,,,,and not ragging it,,,, as if you do it will break,,,,, whats the fucking point buying one then

the ONLY WAY to maintain a cossie so its reliable is to have a OPEN cheque book,,, and we are talking about spending 15k over 5 years and you will be lucky if you get away with that little

dont get me wrong theres cossie owners on here who are scared to drive there cars,, scared of going over 100mph and there cossies are fine,,,,,, but fucking hell theres no point owning a car thats sitting at just over 3k doing a ton on the motorway

if you own one just remember that they will break down,,,, not just the engines fault but sensors/looms ect,,,,, EVERYTHING for a cossie is expensive compared to the ERST's,,, people IGNORE THAT

a head gasket set for a erst is 70 quid,,, to take the head of a cossie will cost 500 quid in parts to just remove and check it,,,,,thats not even labour

fault finding on a cossie is a wanker too as not many people understand them,,,, so they charge YOU for there learning about finding how they work

THEN<<<< THEN<<<<<<<< after that theres STILL the servicing costs AND the insurance AND the fucking fuel bill for them,,,,,,,, THEN

THEN theres the urge for MORE power and the bills that come from modding,,,, and the EXTRA BILLS from the other parts that fail when you add more power

not even mentioned the MOT time costs to fix the faulty ABS and the fucking rust issues they have,,,,,,,, yeah mate,,,,, you could run a cossie on a budget and have no problems with it

btw my cossie only EVER had one problem with it in the time i owned it,,,,so im not a owner who had a shitter that had bad maintanance,,,,, im a owner who when he changed the engine he decided to change EVERYTHING in the engine bay to avoid chasing the unreliable cossie issues,,,, mine done 20k miles of abuse and never melted a engine,,,,,,

well my dad got his cosworth as a 2nd owner back in 1990 or 91 and it was used as a daily driver until 2001..

where it was things like brakes, tyres, general stuff etc. someone pinched it and it was fully restored and it hasnt had any problems at all with it, but its not modded at all.. i cant wait till feb so i can drive it and come to shows in it

Quick Reply: just bought me first cossie
