hi guys and gals

Seen a lot of posts in here about wire wringing a block. Can anyone explain what it actually is??

didnt wire ringing blocks die out in the 80's? They dont wire ring WRC blocks anymore AFAIK.

sorry - in answer to your post.

Wire ringing is when you put a ring of wire around the top of the engine block just outside the perimeter of the cylinder bore. The idea is that when you screw the head down, the wire ring "bites" into the head gasket and makes a better seal.

Its old tech though AFAIK, better gaskets are available now which dont rely on this method of forming a seal
