Dom iam insured with Swift.com and it covers me to drive a car not belonging to me and it must also be insured by the owner too.

The car has to be insured by someone else, and when you read the small print, you can only drive other cars with smaller engines than your own. Almost all insurers do this now, to stop people insuring Pandas, and driving about in Imprezas. I dont know any company who doesnt do that.

car dont have to be insured unless its left on the road

as for the smaller engine thing,,, thats ALSO a myth,,,, seriously soo many people quote shite from the pub/made up in there little tiny hating heads

the policy ONLY states " can drive other cars thrid party",,,,, no aserix . tiny print, special hand shake

old bill try to set you up as mr brannen said BUT even if they said NO the FACT of the matter is THEY WOULD BE WRONG !!!

take it to court and it will be binned out of court based on what the documents state,,,,,, mine dont say about other car needs to be smaller engined, older, worth less, lesser seats.non metalic paint, no fury dice and washed 4 times a week at a turkish car wash

ffs stop listening to shite and READ THE POLICY DETAILS,,,,,,, the internet saddo aint a fucking judge,,,,,, the insurance is YOUR defence,,,, you win fucking end of storey

insurance companys LOVE you sad wankers who hate people for saving a few quid,,,,, bet you grass people up for parking in disabled bays at the supermarket too

oh btw my bmw has a fully comp policy all details correct and everything declared,,,,, as in theres no mods to it,,,,, i just understand WHY people do this,,,,, not like insurance as EVER gone down,,,,, it ALWAYS goes up each year !!!!

I'm with Bell. Cost's about Ł30 extra to be 3rd party on anything else. I'm only 3rd party fire and theft on my own car too. It's handy (especially as my car keeps playing up).

surely though unless its a traders policy, the cossie and the bmw need to be insured by someone else to enable you to drive them 3rd party only?

Matt, might be a good bet for you then as you NEVER boot it. Your mum told me you still think your cossie is naturally aspirated

wouldnt be overly fussed if I binned it anyway, would just put the lump in something else

The other car(Cossie) has to be insured , obviously for you to be on the road driving it, why you ask, cause what if u park it up on a hill, the handbrake lets go and it rolls down into another car aint your fault cause you werent driving it so who is it down to......the owner of the cars policy itself , and your "lesser" car obviously needs to be insured by you to get the policy to drive the fookin Cossie, and what a load of crap about it needing to be less powerfull , its the policy not the car that counts mate, that said less n less companies are doing it now and within 2-3 years u wont be allowed to do this sort of thing, but who cares Ive built up nearly 4 yrs no claims so I`ll be putting the Cossie in my own name next yr cause my little bro(18) wants an M3 Convertible and needs to use my dads name on the policy and he cant have 2 policys now can he

my policy says, 'insured to drive any vechicle which does not belong to you' and for actual 'producers' sake, you are covered even if the other car isnt insured but is in someone elses name. its not really legal but does not say on the policy that the other car has to be insured so can get way with it.
no mention of engine size!? that silly.
yr dad can have 2 policies, i do. one for vectra and one for cossie.

bollox show me the small print please so some with a 1.8 diesel escort for instance can drive a 300bhp fiesta turbo as the engine size is smaller. but then the guy with the fiesta can't drive the 65bhp diesel because the engine size is bigger.
