Default Mk6 Escort Electrical Problem...

My mate has a T Reg Escort 1.6 and it's developed a bit of a problem.

The lights on his dashboard have completely stopped working. The ones that glow green round the rev counter/speedo etc when you switch your side lights/dipped lights on. The individual lights are working, handbrake, oil, indicators etc...but not the rev counter/speedo surrounds etc

The lights around the blower switches have gone as well. Radio/CD is working fine though

He's checked fuse 29 which is apparently "interior lights" but there's nowt wrong with it.

Any ideas anyone??

EDIT: Mk6 not Mk5...Ta Jay

According to the Haynes manual it should be fuse 3. Worth a look.

I thought that, but i cant see the ones that do the heater switches going as well at exactly the same time? Having said that, stranger things have happened

Will get him to check

Have told him to check fuse 3 as well...what's that labelled as in haynes manual? i.e. whassit do?

mate, sounds silly but wen he turns his lights on, get him to check if his back lights are on aswell. If not, he needs to replace the light/indicator stalk. Thats what ive had to do on 2 of my previous mk6 escorts ive owned
