AFAIK, they really made that episode, but was never to be aired, some thing to do with ITV crews making spoof episodes, theirs an emerdale one somewhere?
tho i think the rainbow one was aired years later on a late night show

It was done as a joke for the Thames Television staff Christmas video tape in 1979. Never intended to air to the general public.
