No. There were a limited amount of UK versions
You're thinking of the 22b. The P1 was created only for the UK market with a limited run of 1000 cars.

I do a lot of events with the WRX club here as the following is quite large due to the STI tuning arm based in Melbourne. A lot of the guys and girls all wear the clothing etc. Interesting it is the same in the UK. Possibly a Impreza trait?

Two of my mates have tuned P1's both were mapped by Andy Forrest and both have done 20k miles getting the shit kicked out of them..

they always seem to punch above their weight and will usually beat evos etc with same power level.

both run AP brakes as the standard ones are crap.

really need a Apexi Fc and full blitz to make them fly

awesome cars..

Or the fact they produce up to date machinery that the new kids can aspire to, unlike Ford, who rely on heritage from days gone by to keep an appeal rather than produce anything worth buying

My mate has a nice P1, when it was standard it was only as quick as my nova xe, although it was faster than another mates Evo7

PS were not talking cornering here

Power delivery though is SO smooth, now its tuned its apperently very fast, certainly sounds it when he leaves the village.

Still sounds like a fucking Subaru though

Think he calls it an S8 or something

Thats not bad

I think he paid around Ł175k for it and its always got a broken gearbox. Well not the box itself just the paddles on the steering wheel. He borrowed some jubilee clips off me a while back to fix it

I owned a Corsa XE stripped out with a few engine mods. (around 170bhp)

I also had an Evo 6 at the same time. There was a MASSIVE difference in them. Although the p/w ratio is similar, the way they get the power down, handle brake accelerate its in a different league.

Another mate has a Nova Xe stripped out and with 150shot of nitrous. I can still beat it at any speed.

Are P1s really that slow? And Whats up with the Evo 7?

My m8 had one had full system and a remap and pulled so well. Just pulled all the way round till off the clock. From a rolling start against my old 300 bhp saph it would be even's till he hit 4th and the thing just pulled and left me

I like them a lot and people who say scoobies are shit really have not got a clue.

My dad has a standard impreza turbo with the prodrive pack and has had no probs..

they get the bad rep from people either not running the import ones on the right fuel, or bad mapping...

I think if they arent messed about with they are 100% reliable, they are japanese after all

The subaru is a very reliable car, things only start to go pop when you have a diy'er who doesn't what he's doing, bad fuel/wrong RON or bad mapping (which is doubtful now-a-days).

Literally speaking the P1 is not a Subaru production car.... it IS an import STi that has been pre-modded by Prodrive prior to registration. By facto of osmosis, it then becomes a UK car.

A specific engine revision had problems with the big ends (on the classic). The P1 seems to have it's own problems and this has been associated to either the standard ECU map not being ideal for the UK fuel, together with other internal engine worries.

As has been said above..... the most likely cause for failure of the classic model engine has been bad modifications etc.

Thank fully the Newage engines seem fairly bullet proof.

I raced one in my old S13, I was in the region of 280-300bhp at the time and I was neck and neck with it in a striaght line. What shocked me, was I could also match him around corners (only had lowering springs on the S13), he obviously wasn't a decent driver, that said i've never been left by any Scooby on corners.

The only time I lost out to the P1 was coming off a roundabout, he nailed it and fucked off, I nailed it and nearly lost the fucker. No grip.

Good cars though, I like.

a guy round the corner who owns a huge import place told me once he would never have a p1 in his place for sale and would never even take one in p/x.
something to do with higher compression ratios or something if i remember right-but they are apparently the weakest engine of them all.

they look nice though.

Believe what you may mate, rolling start 2nd gear both cars I could stick with them, the evo would have the edge on me at 120mph.

Only played with the Scoob a few times but 2nd gear until around a ton was the same. I heard the P1 and the Evo had a race one night and the P1 was faster overall.

That was off gas btw, as on gas I'd run out of revs long before they caught me.

My engine was a 40k xe taken from a Calibra that had been stood 7 years

As for the nova on 150hp nitrous not keeping with a Evo 6, either the evo has been tweeked or the nova is a sack of shit.

My 1/4 mile was 13.051 @ 112mph

Lapped the ring in under 9 mins on first visit.

Might need to draw your attention to a particular Corsa that runs 11's on gas, it maybe tuned but power to weight clearly is what its all about.

I'm not a twat and I'm quite aware that a Evo is a quick point to point car, until tuned though there not as quick as everyone seems to believe, they launch hard as do scoobs but once rolling there not that fast.

Maybe you had your gas on and didn't notice?

As an Evo standard should do 13 deads. At a slightly slower terminal.

The Nova is owned by the same kid as the old CossVaux van. It's direct port, has a progressor bottle warmer etc. Over 2k's worth off kit IIRC. He's not going to put it on a smokey old XE as the kids got about 10 in his garage. Although my I add traction was the biggest problem on this night.

I have seen the corsa that runs an 11.8, its a XE on TBs and 150+ shot of nitrous?

Been a tw@ or not is debatable. Please may i make you aware I drove both cars back to back on a daily basis. My Evo is standard, my XE was tuned. Theres a BIG difference.
The XE was great fun, (if you like to wheelspin) and it was a laugh to drive. But please get out of your car and drive an Evo.
I have raced 2 MR340 Evo 8's in my car and beat them both. Although its very close and they would no doubt be quicker 120+.

Not many people launch there Evo's and the 1s who do either have way too much money a stupidly fast car with a very good clutch, or just simply no mechanical sympathy.

Not sure where you live but by all means fill your gas up and I can show you the difference?

try running a cossie on 92 RON fuel and see how far you get...

thats the same prob as most P1's have...

the base map is VERY close to the edge as standard..

Re map them and you wont have any troubles...

always makes me laugh when people say P1's are unreliable...

Has anyone heard of the newer type scoobys needing engine rebuilds then?

Cos a scooby dealer near me reckons they do a rebuild about once a month, under warrenty i believe, so not 3 years old yet. Apparently they drink oil and people buy them don't open the bonnets between services.

Now, do they use oil like that or is that a unusual failure rate?
