Basically we (i say we, more like I'm trying to convince my dad!) that we need to replace the roof aerial and also split the coax to other rooms in the house (20odd years of using a on the top aerial for the tv in my room and getting a proper shit picture has now taken its toll on me lol!)

Also is it possible to receive analogue FM signals through the tv aerial? (I beleive something called a diplexer is needed?)

Also we only live about 5 miles from the Crystal Palace transmitter so signal strength aint really a problem. Its just on windy days it really affects the tv picture and the aerial and coax are probably at least 30 years old! Problaby more thinking about it!
Any suggestions on what we are planning would be appreciated!

if you buy a freeview box for about £30 you'll get a few radio stations - although not local radio - and you'll get a good tv pictuture, infact you probably wont need to upgrade your existing tv aerial.

already got one in the living room mate.

tried using it in my room with one of them setop aerials and i get a shit signal - hence why wanting to split the feed from the main aerial on the roof

Tell him everyone has to upgrade their aerial this coming year because of the Analogue switch off. He might fall for it like thousands of others are doing.
And you won't get digital on a set top aerial.
Depends on what area you are in as to how soon it happens, goes on till 2012.

Isn't it time you moved out and got your own place.
