i remember seing that programme blues & two's in hull..they had escort cossies with uprated suspension for going up kerbs & speed bumps at high speed

Im sure Greater Manchester had 1 or 2 that were supposedly about 330bhp and group n spec suspension etc with sump guards and on OZ rims

Both of mine were standard except the inertia switches had be bypassed as the crooks had found that if they rammed the cop cars the switch tripped!!

Doug i have the original picture of that police car and is framed with a plaque that says its the first 4x4 sapphire cosworth into police service and it was presented to the northumbria police by Geoff king from "ford motor co"

i remember years ago seeing a saff that had all the stickers taken off but the dirt had got on the glue that was left so you could see where all the stickers were.
looked a bit of a mess,was late 4x4 i think.

Saw escos police cars but didn't know bout saphs. Suppose same as essex police using evos and mondeo st's now.

manchester had lots of saffs some unmarked plenty marked up,they had the later style wheels no sunroofs and hidden blue lamps.they destroyed gearboxes all the time ,quicks in ashton always had them in for repair.

There used to be a couple of escort and saph marked cars up this way, i remember coming through the tyne tunnel once and there was an escort and saph parked together at 1 end looked mint

was watching traffic cops the other night and see a white three door getting chassed up to 130 mph until the driver realised the police where chassing him he then pulled over, but i tell ya he was leaving them quick
