m8, every vehicle has a tow limitation.... get the weight of the trailer and your racecar, add them up and thats ur minimum needed.
you will find the transit unusable cause its tow rating is too low for any decent car / trailer.
i got a Chevy Pickup with 3 tonns towing capability, so thats enough for even a heavy car on the trailer. keep in mind that you will, once you
got a trailer, also tow cars that are not old minis / KAs.
or the beast in my sig, was towing an empty trailer with the tractor the other week and the tractor broke down, the nissan towed both the tractor and trailer home
BMW 325 TDS mate. 6 cylinders of muscle. Old but cheap and very powerful and will do mega miles and are pretty economical for the size of engine. Very smooth and quiet as well.

would that car be legal to tow a trailer with a car ?
I don't see why not. A lot of people do M3 replicas with them, which is what I had, but you can get them in standard form and they're a standard looking BMW, but they're very refined for quite an old car.
