kidney stones - the aftermath

before you read this, guess how long the tube they pulled out of me was, then find out if you were right or not ![Grin](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)
most of you know i've had a problem with these over the past few weeks, and, because they didn't find what they were looking for, they decided to put in a stent, a pipe that goes from my kidney to my bladder
today, they removed it, in quite an easy op, but i'm still walking like john wayne
if you don't want to know, stop reading now
so, for the not so squemish, here's how it went:
got the hospital about 15 minutes early, then spent the next 45 minutes getting changed into the gown, getting quizzed by the nurses for some form filling, asked loads of questions about what was going to happen
none of this reassured me that getting a pipe stuck into my peepee was going to be something pleasurable
so, walked into the op room and got on the bed, while they sorted all the tools out
up until this point, i was feeling a little bit scared but only a bit nervous, when they started to get the stuff out i was literally
, so much in fact that i wanted to
in a hurry
the pipe they stick down with the camera on the end is baout the thickness of a biro, but thats not the worst bit, he was weilding this thing like a light sabre beause thats how long it was
i started to chant "oh shit oh shit oh shit oh shit oh shit oh shit oh shit oh shit oh shit oh shit oh shit oh shit oh shit oh shit" until one of the nurses came over and asked me to relax, breathe deeply, held my head, told me to calm down as the tension was going to make the pain worse
then the doc wapped a load of antisepcit down there before squeezing what felt like a tube of toothpaste into my ding-a-ling
it deffintly wasn't a pleasant feeling
then he stuck this great big tube in there and i was like
and all the time he was looking into screen telling me what was going on
sorry doc, but that wasn't what i needed to hear at that time mate
once it was in things seemed to calm down a bit, so then they went and got the little tube things they were going to use to get the stent out with (they looked like them things you use to get a nut/bolt that has fallen into the deepest recessive of the engine back, a long spring thing with a plunger on one end and a grabber on the other) and in they went
this was the time when he opened the valve to let this thing in and out came a stream of piss
when they finaly got hold of the tube and pulled it out i was shocked to see how long the bugger was
and that was that, out everything came and i hobbled off to the toilet
after about 15 minutes i was able to get some clothes on and hobble to the car, john wayne stylee
but ever since then the desire to have a piss everytime i move any part of my lower body is always there
still, i would have rather had this done a month ago than endure the pain i've been through, so for anyone else out there who is awaiting the stone removal, this is by far the easiest way to do things, don't suffer trying to pee it out, get down the hospital and get some jelly down your dinkle and get them to whip it out
oh yes, did you have a guess?
if you guessed 18 inches you were right
if you didnt, well, then you were wrong

So they basically stick a pipe down your nob, grabby thing the kidney stones and pull them out through the tube? I think I might've missed something
I'm glad you seem happier after the experience though!
When will this weird sensation die down then? That must be a bit concerning each time you move!

so who ever has been posting that they've got them now and has had people advising them to piss them out, this is the MUCH easier option, last about 5 minutes and then you seak piss for about 5 or 6 hours while everything gets back ot normal
![Grin](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)
for me the movement is due to the fact that the stent was put into the pipe that goes from my kidney to my bladder, and the removal of this means there is still some discomfort when i pee because the valves haven't closed up properly, the opening of the urethera at either ends has also been compromised so this is why i'm leaking like a small tap

I had something similar last year, had a really bad water infection where was peeing blood, had to go for a camera (cystocope?) to check everything ok in there (which was, in fact I was watching the screen - even more interesting that seeing my cervix through a camera after a dodgy smear result!) felt like I was pissing razor blades for the rest of the evening after
Sounds nothing compared to an 18" shunt and kidney stones though

no more tablets
not so much pain
can't say about the spelling
but for anyone who has ben holidng themselves, it's really not as bad as it's made out to be, and, nice as it was when they knocked me out to put it in, the wake up call lasted about 5 weeks compared to this one, which is probably going to last about 5 days
thanks for all the get well soon messages peeps
the john wayne walks have stopped
