Default #How much to convert 4x4 saph cossie to rwd man machine???#

As tittle peeps whats the average cost of doing such a conversion changing a 4by to a rwd ??/

obviously ill need a sump, prop, front hubs, assuming rear diff?? ,Gear box options ,can i use my mt box with a diff bellhousing to suit or better just geting a t5 box ?? Only reason i ask is my own box is new and uprated to take power allready

Im assuming theres some peeps done the conversion on here ??

Cheers for answers

millsy you cant use the mt75 in yours as it has the front prop outlet, you dont have to change the sump, the drive dont go through it,just looks that way,you will want a t5 box 2wd flywheel(lighter),2wd rear diff, and prop as you mentioned, plus the stick and clutch realese bearing, and do away with the front shafts

in my opinion the best rwd cossie you can get is a 4x4 saph converted to rwd as its a much better engine, vented rears etc, even the anti roll bars are thicker, alloy crossmember etc

i was going to do it to my magenta j-reg saph but never got round to it

ive had 2 4x4 saphs,xr4x4 24v cos,xr4x4 twin turbo technics..the list goes on and yes they were all very good cars and yes you could push the back end out if you really tried, and of course for winter they are good BUT.......they are too predictable for me,your limited at top speed, they are heavier, theres more to go wrong, you just have to look at the factory figures for 0-60 on 2wd saph and 4x4 saph

but in all honesty if i needed it everyday i would have the 4x4 saph for drivability and reliability but as a weekend fun toy its rwd all day long

my 3-door is here to stay

four wheel drive slows you down on top speed
i would bet my car if you put standard 2wd saph and 4x4 saph up against each other on the motorway the 2wd would pull away from it and get a higher top speed, same if you put 2 stage 3 cars against each other

im not slating the 4x4,in my opinion the 4x4 saph was the best built by ford throughout the range, all im saying is the 2wd is faster, more fun and requires a bit more driver input thats all,
fair enough a 4x4 would hammer a rwd in the wet,but thats it,if you know how to handle a rwd on the bends its the best handling car you will ever have

....i have a 4x4...2 of my pals have(had) 2wd both stage 1 (more power now)....yes they go quicker in the dry...but top speed...na....and once u have upped the power a 4x4 has a quicker ratio box( from standard)so what they loose in transfer loss they make up in grip......my mate 2wd 380+....mine 4x4 420bhp...i know what is best in a everyday situation...he can spin, spin, spin...i go go go.....just the way i see it (nothing more).......
