What is the difference between floating & non floating brakes discs & what are the pros & cons of each type. Looking at a large brake conversion for my 3 door (mainly road use), want to go for AP's really & doing some homework before i buy!!

Floating discs allows the disc to expand and contract when hot/cold without the risk of warping

So is it worth the extra to get floating as suppose to non floating? I was under the impression that the disc/bell combination stopped warping in it's own right?

Proper floating discs allow much more movement though.

I'd say prolly not worth it on a road car tbh.

Deffo worthwhile on a race car tho

Now, optimum number of vanes. AP offer 24,30 or 48 vanes discs. is it a case of more the better? Also, should i go for drilled, grooved or a combo of both?
