Default German Shepherd.....home needed URGENTLY

Right then, due to me moving in the next day or, i have to regrettably let go of my German Shepherd, Clifford. We have had him since he was 6 weeks old and he is now 13 months old.

I have to let him go due to the house we are going to has a much, much smaller rear garden, and also work commitments means it wont be fair on him.

He has a great temprament. I have 2 children aged 5 and 8 and the dog is ace with them and all he wants to do is play. I am not looking for any money for him at all, just simply to go to a good home.

A few of the local kennels around here, will not take any more dogs until after xmas, and that only leaves with this solution. Youd have to come collect him if you want him. I am just 1 mile away from junc 11 of M6

ffs sorry tach posting as i forgot to log tony out AGAIN!!!

ahh hes beautiful i like german shepards i used to work for a gsd breeder and worked with police dogs. u always feel safe around GSD regardless of how soppy they are.

these dogs are amazingly loyal and great with kids usually.

whats he like with other dogs?

tony can we build a kennel in the new house and take in all the unwanted pf dogs?

He could be the brother of my GSD bitch with those ears She came from around your area too.

I would have had him like a shot, but my GSD is due a hip replacement after Xmas and we'll have to keep her quiet for the 8 week's recuperation period and that would be an impossibility if she had a 'playmate'.

Hope you find a kind, loving suitable home for him, he looks a cracking dog.

If you can't find a home, get in touch with a GSD Rescue GSD RESCUES

Me and Cally are planning on adopting an older GSD at some point in the future so that was a really interesting read

Aargh, missed out. I was just talking to my missus about getting a German Shepherd tonight. I've always wanted one We've got a lab retriever and he needs a friend and I wanted one to get me some more exercise cos our lab is getting a bit slow as he gets older. We need one that's soft cos our dog is a big daft lump.

We've got a big enclosed rear garden that he could have run round in as well.

I agree - it must be completely heart-wrenching But respect for putting the wlefare of the dog first, and not keeping him "just for you" so to speak, which probably wouldn't be fair on him.....

Still ->

Oh blimey mate, I'd love to have him but if he struggles to get on with other dogs that's a problem for me too. My dog's as soft as anything but if they didn't get on that would be a real problem for us.
He's just what I was looking for as well.

Just to clarify the position.

Clifford is a beautiful dog, he is still has many puppy traits, he loves people, and is very intelligent but does need strong handling. He would be ideal for a home without other dogs.

He just will not tolerate any other dog on his "territory". He is a real dominant alpha male, who will bite first to show his dominance over another dog. He will not do this at neutral venues like the vets only on his own patch. I have spoken to another German Shepherd trainer who agrees with my thinking. This trait can be cured by training him with other dogs so that he becomes socialised.

Please don't think he is in any way vicious, in fact I have never come across a dog who takes food from you so gently, he is just a lovely boistreous lad, but needs to be the only dog in the house.

I feel really bad not being able to keep him, but it is totally impractical to have to keep the dogs seperated until he is trained out of this hablt.
He would be staying with me if I did not have my bitch to consider.
