he immediatly said yes and even changed my notice dates so my service and pension are unchanged.
I returned from offshore on tuesday and to be honest my second week was better and I didn't feel so down in the dumps.
I had a meeting on friday with my old boss and he wasn't exactly pleasant!!
I dropped him in the poo by leaving as he had failed to train staff to do my job when he had promised for 2 years to sort it out as a result I wasn't doing my own job for that time just filling in in a lower position.
He seemed to think he had bailed me out not 50/50 and said stop whinging and get on with it and you owe the company 4 days aswell (something else he failed to mention on the phone )

problem is my family think I should forget about my old job and get stuck into the new one I really don't know what to do I did miss my family whilst away (wife/child) my wife wants me to go offshore as financially it is a massive difference and should ease money problems forever.
really stuck here as at the moment I have 2 jobs!!
due back at my old job on wednesday so really need to make a decision now but can't, I have weighed up the options but I don't get a clear winner.
never felt so low as I do now (apart from last week on the rig!!)
the guys on the rig were great and just said it takes time to settle i'm sure it does but I really am not sure what the hell to do.

Steve
I use to do alot of work at the Avecia ABC5000 plant in Billingham mate. That anywhere near your old work? All the best in the new job by the way

This would have been my 8th Year offshore and i never liked it and had various breaks away from it a few times.

I still work for a very large Oil Company but onshore doing pretty much the same job as i was doing offshore and for the same money with a company car.

Im just rubbing it in as im sooooooooooo Chuffed with what i managed to get

Just to update you all, I am returning to the rig tommorrow so hopefully it will all work out.
Don't think my old employers were to happy tho.
I do have deep regrets about leaving but I had my reasons and time is a great healer.

Steve

What Company are you working for?

Youth - stick the new job in.

I moved to a new job in the same company 10 meters away and hated it for the first 10 weeks or so - so fucking bored. Left a lower paid job which had higher levels of exposure and pressure which had kept me going to a new job which felt totally out of the lime light ( im basically shite when NOT under pressure ) The new job is now TOTALLY in the limelight and am under massive pressure - i made it suit me and now its SOOO been the right move. Could easily have given it up but stuck at it.

Life is about going fwd - only very rarely does going back actually take u fwd...

just read this thread form the begining mate.

youve just started the rigs just now missing your famaly but dont you think 2 weeks with them..not worrying about work etc for another 2 weeks is great... ive been doing it for nearly a year now & before that i was on the standby boats for 4 years at a month at a time
& that realy is a killer

once you get used to it...it'll all become clear that at the end of the day its just a job mate...hope this all gets sorted
