Default 50ltr 3hp compressor (9.2cfm) ok for spraying??

just found this on special offer for £210.

will it be ok for doing some spraying with.
i dont have the room for anything more than a 50ltr tank really.

I know im ment to compare the cfm from the spray gun to the compressor but nothing really beats experience so i thought i'd ask.

I'd say the tank is a bit on the small size....

Depends on what your spraying, single panels would be ok but not large areas.14 cfm is minimum for doing repaints hope this helps

how about if i just done a panal, and let it fill up before moving on to the next bit.

im not after an out of the factory finish, just wanna tidy the rusty nova up a bit.

or am i better of just not bothering and letting someone else do it if i cant fit a bigger compressor in.

could you not hire a bigger one and have it out side the garage while using it.

i'd rather buy it tbh.
that way i can use it when i want to do what i want.

i would struggle to fit anything bigger in the garage with a car in there.
and i think my mum would probably have something to say about it too

Too small. Youll start spraying and after just a couple of flicks from the gun the compressor motor will kick in to start filling the tank up as its too small...and if ya keep going you will lose pressure...so youll keep having to stop and wait for it to fill up...then it will get too hot and probs not work for a few mintues...

In an ideal world it's way too small, but you won't be spraying in an ideal world so it will just be o.k as long as you get a gun with a small nozzle matched to the 9.2cfm.
And as long as you don't use an air fed mask, which means you will have to use Iso free paint.

By the time you have sprayed one panel you won't be able to see in a small garage without a fair sized extract fan.
Once you've let the dust settle, and wiped it off the next panel you are going to spray the compressor will have filled up again.

The first compressor I had was smaller than that and I managed.
The second one I had I added a second tank to give more capacity at the start.
Another problem is direct drive compressors are very noisey, you will need ear defenders or your ears will be buzzing when you have finished.
Best to put the compressor outside whilst you are inside and then the air filter won't get clogged up with your spray dust.

cheers for that mate!

the paint you mentioned.
is that common and easy to pick up. or am i going to be paying a fortune for it?

im literally just looking to tidy the car up a bit and try to learn a new skill on the way.
and if u was to see the car you'd know that it wont take much to look better than it does
