Default computer people help!

just bought a new laptop last week and was hoping to buy msd's software for cossie diagnostics.

it states i need a "9 pin serial port"-im fucking not too good with computers so can anyone post up a pic of what it should look like,or wether my laptop should have one,or wether i could get one fitted to my laptop.
should have checked this before buying it really

You can also get an adaptor for USB(Which you will deffo have) to serial....

Slow down fellas. Most serial/USB adaptors dont work with fast datastreams.

A PCMCIA - Serial adaptor is a far better option.

indeed.. i'm with Stu.. our networks guys bought a load of laptops with no rs232 port to configure their cisco switches and the pcmcia adaptors were by far our best bet.

havent got a 9 pin port on it!
can i just go to pc world and ask for a "pcmcia" then?and where would such a thing plug in-a usb port?

I would plug into a PCMCIA port mate, so best check you have one of those too now.

what laptop have you got ? on one side you should have a slot about 4mm thick by about 60mm wide and it'll slot in there !
