Range Rovers: Anyone Know What To Look OuT For?
Gents,
I am looking at a 1998 2.5DSE today (I need a car to pull a horse box). Are there any key things that I should look out for?
Thanks in advance.

Oh and watch for the suspension as that fucks up as well

If you ever saw how one was put together you'd never have bought a new one let alone a used one. Trust me, I worked on the 38A line. Poor build quality, poor reliability and high cost of parts.
The new Range Rover is a different beast altogether, but that's what you get when the Germans have a hand in development of a vehicle. Brilliant car!

The main thing to look for is....................
Something BUT a Range Rover
I had one and it was the WORST car i have ever owned.
I had warrenty with it aswell and it still pissed me off sending it back every few weeks for things like Suspention, Brakes, Airbags, Doors and then the engine let go (BMW 2.5Diesel unit)so it needed a new one
Always wanted one........Bought one........Lost 6k in 10 months with depreciation alone.......Sold it
NEVER AGAIN..........

Mate, honestly, don't!
I was looking a while back as I really wanted one. I heard more stories of woe than anybody saying anything nice. One guy even e-mailed me to tell me the only thing that didn't break on his was the fag lighter. Think he reffered to it as "an expensive fucking garden ornament"

i'd love one but everyone quite rightly hates them, i reckon for me it's gonna have to be one of those cars i just have to try out myself.

i had the 4.6hse about 5-6 years ago and had it about 6 months wasnt too bad a car but wouldnt own another due the running costs.
a couple of sensors went, Ł800 from the main dealer!!
major service, best part of Ł900
they look a bit dated now as well
i would prob buy a l200 if i wanted a work horse

scrap the range rover unless ur gettin an old one if you wanna stay brittish get a defender 90 or a 110 if you need the space, i would thoughrly reccomend a Nissan D22 Navara though 2.5TD 150bhp and 300nm torque so its bloody nippy (the mitsibushi L200's are down on power so dont bother with them)
and the other day our tractor broke down (fuel blockage) on a main road towing an empty trailer still 10+ tons combied weight.......good old nissan towed the pair home
not a huge tractor theres a fezza for size comparison lol
