My Cossie........It's gone !!!!!
Well, today is a sad day for me, after owning my cossie for over 14 years, today someone has put a deposit on it, and will collect it before the end of the week.
I won't say who's bought it......I'll leave that to them. (But it's staying in the club, which is great news to me, and what I wanted for her).
I know they'll love every minute in it, and hope they take as much care of it as I have.
Now..... Do I go for the M5..... a 540 Sport, or a TVR Cebera 4.5 ???
I've had a great time with the RSOC, and especially here on Passion Ford, but I won't be leaving here....... met some great friends and will always think of it as a home from home, where we can have some good banter and a good laugh.
I'll always be a Cosworth enthusiast.....as long as I live, but 14 years with the same car and now it's time to try something else....What ever it is, it'll be quick, but maybe not as quick as the cossie.
Thanks for everything.

i have a 540 on lpg and i must say it is the best car i have ever had and cheap to run
286bhp and the switchtronic box make for a truely relaxed drive with plenty of poke.
when this 1 is ready to expire (it`s on a s plate) i will be looking into a m5-6
hope this helps

Cheers Mike : He asked if there was anyone who could vouch for the car, so I suggested you and Karl, as your the only other people who've driven it.
Gonna miss it big time, but nearly 15 years has got to be close to a record for owning the same cossie.
Got some interesting choices on the horizon though, so you won't see me in a mondeo......LOL.
Got to be quick and something I can show an interest in....but it'll stay standard. (No money left for mods......, all my dosh is in the Cossie, but I got it to where I wanted it, and loved every minute. But I'm getting old....)

Sad sad day Jim, knew this wouldnt hang around for long as it is fantastic!!
Got to be a TVR I think Jim, there was a convoy of them going round the Fareham round about the other weekend. One guy gave it a squeeze of the peddle and the backend was right out!! How much are they going for now?

Someones bought a nice car there
Be prepared to spend if you buy a TVR
My bruv in laws is down at a place called Austec undergoing a 5 grand engine re-build
Car only had done 30 odd thousand miles,he owned if for four days and the crank snapped
Second hand engines go for 4 grand, with about 30k miles
Oh yeah, and his first one he owned for one day,let me drive it and this happened:

Blimey Jim - didn't think you'd ever sell that one!
Thought it was going to be a Viking Burial for you in the old Cossie
I've got about another 6 years to go then to beat your record
All the best with whatever you buy next
Cheers
Mike

POLARIS ESCORT : Was sorry to have to break the bad news to you, but unfortunately that's the way it goes when selling a car, and I'm sure you know by now who the buyer was.....He just beat you by a few hours.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
MAD ROD : Ohhh believe me, it wasn't easy making the decisions to press the "Submit Advertisment" button.
I know at some time soon, and probably in the future too......I'll regret it, probably when some spotty faced kid in a modded Subaru/Mitsubishi blasts past me and there's nothing I can do about it........i'll be thinking "If only I was in my old Cossie"................ I just know it's going to happen.
At the moment I feel like I'm missing a leg, It's outlasted 2 wives, and been alot cheaper, always put a smile on my face, and never cheated on me........So lots of good memories will go with it.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It is nice though being in the position to search for something interesting and new........ Early E39 M5, Late E39 540 Sport, TVR, Clio V6 (Mid Engined)..........just can't make up my mind.
HELP.....
Hang on a minute.......What about an Escort Cossie...!!!!!!!!

Lamb Chops.....This one is advertised on another site for around the 12k mark.........0 - 60 in 4.2 seconds and 175mph max. Or probably averaging 30 mph on the back on an AA Truck most of the time....very temping as an enthusiasts car, and I've still got the 525 Sport for everyday driving, but that would go if I got an M5 or 540 Sport.

Pretty sure thats an early 4.2 Cerb, the ones that have the dodgy crank, they think it is a fault in the casting, which results in the crank snapping
The 4.5's have a newer design/much stronger crank
Get onto Pistonheads, the TVR forums are good on there

The more I'm reading, the more I'm having a re-think on the TVR option......... Guess you need to buy one with a warranty on really.
