I've got..

Gibson Explorer
Hofner Club 60
Squire Bullet
Les Paul Copy from when I was 16...

The best thing I've bought recently is a Line 6 Guitar Port which sounds ace on my PC and means I dont deafen the neighbours with my Fender Amp..

I have:

Vintage V300 Acoustic. These are cheapo but really, really good.
1985 Ibanez Roadstar II in black with twin humbuckers and coil tapping.
1985 IBanez Roadstar II in white with black plate.
80's Vox 100w+ amp, really dirty sounding thing, it's awesome.
Boss Blues Driver pedal. Amazing, can get so many different sounds from it. Great investment!

I have :

Ibanez JPM 100 P1 (John Petrucci Model, primary colors)

Ibanez JPM 100 P2 (John Petrucci Model, pastel colors)

Ibanez JPM 90 HAM (John Petrucci Model, Ibanez 90th anniversary limited edition)

Ibanez JPM 7 string prototype (John Petrucci Model, black and white, 7 strings)

Ibanez JEM 7 VWH (Steve Vai model, white with vine on neck)

Ibanez UV 7 PWH (Steve Vai model, white with disappearing pyramids on neck, 7 strings)

My amp is a Mesa / Boogie Triple Rectifier head (150 watts) + 4 x 12 Mesa/Boogie Rectifier cabinet.

Except the JPM 100 P1, JPM 90 HAM and JPM 7 prototype which are my real guitars, the rest are internet pictures, but i've got exactly the same. If someone is interested, i can post full pictures of my own gear, especially my 4 Ibanez JPM's that are hung on my living room wall !!!

If you play rock / hard rock or metal, an Ibanez RG will be perfect.
If it's blues, jazz, reggae or soft rock, a Fender Stratocaster or a Squier strat will be perfect.

don't know who they are. Look for Ibanez RG's on ebay, they are VERY versatile and can do almost whatever you want. They often go for very cheap too, especially low end models, which are still excellent guitars for beginners.

sound is not only a brand question, mate. Different pickups, different woods for body or neck, different fretboard... they ALL have a unique sound, except the P1 and P2 i own, which are exactly identical apart from the color. And don't forget that 2 of them have 7 strings instead of 6, so they definitely are NOT the same

Another thing to consider is that guitars are different shapes... the physcial size of the neck varies loads.

My SG has a very small neck for an SG - which is great as I have short fingers!

I'll post up some pictures of mine later tonight

LOL @ Pete

I nearly got a PROPER AC30 with the twin Celestion Blues... but the trem switch was broken. So I asked the music shop to look at it before I brought it and they then tried to stick the bill on top of a price hike on top of the original price. Wankers... luckily they have recently gone bust

The Gibson was a steal at 700 quid when I was in Essex - they didn't know what it was worth.

I've been playing about 10 years now on and off. I play loads of stuff from Tenacious D to Metalica!
