Default computer fans & cooling problems

anyone ele used computer fans on there car ?

I tried 3 x 6" fans on a S2 radiator in my mk3 and there not up to the job at all

can go up to 3 x 8" fans (limited space due to the intercooler) but dont know if its worthwhile so looking for an alternative or advise please.

you aint missing anything Rich.

reason I tried them is that its just a track car so not sitting in traffic or anything, thought I might get away with them but was wrong.

I don't blame him for trying, anythings worth a shot. Okay computer fans they'd never be up to the job of cooling the rad on the car, also with the head on wind hitting them, i think it would knacker them.

Nigel ive not got room for it mate, the intercooler takes up the whole of the bottom half of the front panel and I dont want to go chopping it about if I can avoid it

I have heard of using computer fans for cooling intercoolers before but never radiators. Always wondered if it would work, anyone done it to an intercooler successfully before? Hope you find a solution matey, good luck.

david
it is a very tight fit with hardly any trimming, the thing that needs quite a bit of trimming is the grill
worth it to get rid of any heat issues

the intercooler is basically tight to the frontpanel and the rad sits 1cm behind it on mounts I made up. only got room behind the grill mate and depth aint a problem.

this pic should explain a bit better as you can see what ive got to play with

not a lot
