Get a VR6.Rev all day long, takes a good bit of abuse and handling iseant too bad as standard.Personally go for a MK2 Golf VR if possible but needs the uprated anti-rollbars and a good suspension kit.Heres my old one

clio will probably overheat or the gear box will blow ... the R5 will do a head gasket on the way home . the VR6 will be a solid motor but the MR2 is rwd and quickest ?????
id have the golf due to havin to have a bit of reliabilty plus id probably lose the arse end in the MR2.
had a non turbo MR2 in the summer / looked nice but just werent quick enough ?

I knew you'd bite.....
I know exactly what you mean but the guy who owned the car b4 me was seriously anal about his cars even to the point that each time he had it setup he travelled hours to the guy setting it up.
Was featured in Max Power back in the days when it was a "good" read (early - mid 90's)

Dan,
I've got an MR2 Turbo running a bar of boost, and an aftermarket ECU.
It absolutely flies. Has cost me nothing but consumables this year.
If you're around the North London area at any point, you're welcome to take mine for a spin.

MR2 Turbo for me. I have an N/A model and I love the handling. Only thing it lacks is more power so can't see where you could go wrong with the Turbo.
