So judging by the replies on this thread, other than PON most people acutallywould be ok with it, if it were to be at coombe by the sounds of it?

I'm not too fussed about going to Combe... But then I only have 115bhp You need about 1000bhp to be quick there

If it's at Combe, you're welcome to organise it Chip

Just in the interest of organising a PassionFord trackday, I thought that having an event based nearly as South West as possible, when the membership is possibly more biased to the north of the Watford Gap seemed a little ridiculous.

I like my trackdays cheap........ and Combe aint cheap.

PON, I agree totally on the location, would be a ballache for people from hull or scotland etc.

Im happy to go wherever its held, there isnt actually a track in the UK i dont enjoy (well not that ive tried yet) and i dont mind travelling.

Porkie if people think Coombe is too expensive, they wont be wanting brands either.

Brands can be expensive... but it's still a Palmersport venue, and I know a couple of people there from the last time....

Obviously, Ł99 trackdays without Bedford are going to be a little hard to come by, but I'll give him an email and see what he says on the prices....

Is Combe expensive? Sorry don't really know

Combes not fun if you don't have 200bhp+ in my opinion so the people with the na FWD cars may not like it. And the people with the BIG bhp won't like it when they go off and total there car

Its just the one 'o' by the way Chip.

With regards to expense, personally i reckon anything up to 200 quid is perfectly fair if its a decent open pit lane session and not too many punters there.

What are other peoples views on cost?

(except porkie )

Last time I did Cooombe, it wasn't expensive, but it was an RSOC day, and we spent most of it in the pitlane!

Cost wise, I think you have to be aiming to be around the Ł150 mark to make it viable for everybody. DOn't forget, most people don't trailer a car, so you have to factor in petrol costs to and from the circuit, petrol whilst you're there etc etc

As well you know, you can do Ł100 in petrol in a cossie no problem on an open pitlane day, so I reckon the cost of the day has to be kept as low as possible ( for obvious reasons).

Even though Dave wouldn't believe it, there are still people in the world who don't earn Ł30k more than the national average, to whom Ł50 difference is significant.

Why not everybody who wants a PF trackday, just all book for one of the Ł99 days at Dono that they hold most Sundays during the winter?

Far better track than Coombe and more central.

150 seems like a reasonable ballpark to be in.

Sounds lazy but why dont we just pick a javelin day when they are at a proper circuit (as people dont seem to like the airfield days, although peronsally i dont mind) and just book the whole event for PF peeps only.

They we get our trackday without actually having to do much.

It would be the best way, and would normally have to run that way with Palmersport anyway, as if you pre-book a "club day" you have to take into account public liability insurance etc....

The onl problem with booking an already existing day is that it becomes quite informal, and many people don't bother if it's not a specific day out.

Cant we just book silverstone for the day, tell porkie its 60,000 quid per person, then when he pays no one else will need to, he wont realise thats expensive anyway

Problem solved

The biggest hurdle that we have had is the "Public Liability Insurance"...... its not quite as simple as just paying your money and turning up on the day I'm affraid.... Both years we started the project in June/July and it takes until the day in Feb to get everything 100%.... Even if we got the go ahead NOW we wouldn't have had the time to organise the day (they want a 50% deposit up front and FULL payment 6 weeks b4 the event, the 1st year we started with Ł0 in the bank and when the 6 weeks b4 the event arrived we were over Ł2000 short!!!!! luckily we had a purge of track space and 3 weeks later all was sorted)....

RSOC sorted out Insurance out so why was it an issue for Bed's group ?

4 months is loads of time to sort it IMHO.

Have you ever read the terms and conditions stated by Palmer Sport???? as it took months of fucking about between the RSOC solicitor and Palmer Sport..... trust me it took all the way until just 2 weeks to the track day b4 they got it sorted.....
I'm talking about "just anyone" sorting a track day when I said about the insurance its not like anyone walk use the RSOC insurance is it, it has to be a genuine RSOC event organised by a RSOC group.
As you know its not just a case of getting 80 people to pay Ł99 each then you just arrive and drive...

Due to last years complications between Palmer Sport and RSOC our next track day in 2008 we will sort ouir own insurance for the day....

IIRC Snetterton & Oulten Park booked through MotorSport Vision are also both very reasonably priced circuits to hire out in the 'not so popular' months.
As Rich said tho, Insurance is the biggest problem. I certainly wouldn't want the grief, headache, stress and frustration of sorting that one out as the new MSV Ts & Cs are not very Insurance friendly.

The MLR has a trackday there, via MotorSport Vision and it's prices are reasonable.
