I was foolish enough to dabble in this many years ago. I am naturally sceptical about anything that cannot be explained away by science.

But my experience was a very personal one, not one that I am going to go into in detail on a public access forum, suffice to say to those who pour scorn on this type of phenomenon are no more qualified than me to say whether its bollocks or not I am an intellegent level headed person but something is not right about such practices.

I will never do it again.

To those that say its all nonsense, I say dont take Derren Browns word for it have a go yourself.

If you can be hypnotised, it means that you are open to suggestive thought and can be easily influenced . That's why when you see it on the TV, they reject lots of people, as they're not susceptible enough to it...
we are all open to suggestion,,, just some ALOT easyer than others

i got an ebook on hypnotising if you fancy reading it

i done one once right & the glass moved all around the table & it spelt something backwards & i still remember it now first it was a "t" then an "i",
"h"
"s"
"l"
"l"
"u
"b"
then that night a munster jumped from under my bed & acctualy pissed on it.. you can ask my mum cos she had to wash it the next day,
but i watched power rangers later on & i thaught to myself "good always beets evil" then my dad came home & slapped me for lying to my mum. then two weeks later i turned 27 & forgot all about it until now so thanx

just because you dont believe in something doesnt mean its not real, people who have a belief in god and jesus for example..
whos to say religion is real or not? if its all a load of crap then all the churches, mosques etc etc are a waste of space, apart from a place to put our dead in graveyards.

some people belive in things so blindly, because of faith, they will go to war to protect what they believe.. wierdos.. lol

I dont goto church, or pray or anything, but its nice to believe there is something else beyond this life, and a belief in something supernatural is just another bit of faith

says it all?? thats a bit of a dumb comment since your critisising mine...
that could mean anything.

Why is it a bad example? it just goes to show how people believe in something that cannot be proven 100%

If you ever see an american dollar bill.. it says on it "in god we trust"
how can you trust something or someone who you have no proof whatsoever exists?

One persons belief cant be judged, so if people believe an ouija board works and has worked for them or scared them, then whos to say its not real?

No one can prove if its real or not.. if it could be proven, dont you think someone would have the facts already? its real to the people participating, and others are just as quick to say "thats a load of shit" when they have probably never seen one.

No one can answer the question "Do ouija boards work?" all they can say is "yes it worked for me"

...... because it's a "leap of faith". You're voluntarily choosing to put your belief in something that you have no proof exists. The reasons why you take that leap of faith are usually personal, and largely irrelevant, as the leap is self-fulfilling.

When you partake in a spiritual seance or any of this type of stuff, there IS some proof that it doesn't exist, in that it can be explained away through scientific study.

The difference here is that people choose to IGNORE what proof there is against supernatural phenomenon, and THEN take the leap of faith in believing it to be true. Where religion is concerned, it's perfectly feasible to accept what you believe in MAY not be true, but still take the leap of faith.

LOL.. I like that.. Hubble looking for God

but its pointing the wrong way surely...

I agree that its a persons own faith that determines if it works for them, but we have gained information that no one could possibly have known..
we tried to get the lottery numbers once, and it told us "we cannot see what has not yet happened.." Bugger!!

Anyone who believes should start reading about "ideomotor"
type it into a search engine and have a read

remember people believe what they want to, and if they believe strong enough (maybe because they cant handle the reality) no facts or figures will stand in there way! remember there isnt one piece of evidence that says god exists, yet people still believe (and also use the line "you shouldnt question gods abilitys)

another great line by the profit ali G

sometime later we received a greeting card addressed to her, which proved it was true.
Also my step dad had told me of a time he was a bit sceptical, and he called it a load of bollocks, and the glass lifted from the table and shot across the room and smashed.

What influences it is very strange, and i would not advise doing it for fun.
I have done one.... The consequences were very very bad, I wont be able to go into it im afraid it was that serious.

Would strongly opt against anybody doing one.

sorry but if anyone is scared by them you fouls

ideomotor

The ideomotor effect is a psychological phenomenon wherein a subject makes motions unconsciously, especially while attributing the motion to a paranormal or supernatural force in which he/she believes. Unexplained phenomena such as automatic writing, dowsing, facilitated communication, and Ouija boards can be attributed to the ideomotor effect. The effect is extremely powerful and many subjects cannot be convinced that their actions are originating solely in their own minds.

The term was first used in a paper discussing the means through which the Ouija board produced its results, by William Benjamin Carpenter in 1852. In the paper, Carpenter explained his theory that muscular movement can be independent of conscious desires or emotions.

Scientific tests by American psychologist William James, French chemist Michel Chevreul, English scientist Michael Faraday, and American psychologist Ray Hyman have demonstrated that many phenomena attributed to spiritual or paranormal forces, or to mysterious "energies," are actually due to ideomotor action. Furthermore, these tests demonstrate that "honest, intelligent people can unconsciously engage in muscular activity that is consistent with their expectations" (Hyman 1999).[1] They also show that suggestions that can guide behavior can be given by subtle clues (Hyman 1977)[citation needed].

Is dousing the one with the 2 sticks they use to find water?
Thats another strange one, that has worked..

Im not saying i believe in god or a higher being, because if there was a god then why would he allow killing and wars, and foreigners

but i have done the board, and found information that no one could possibly have known individually,

interestingly enough, my step dad and i were talking about this at the weekend, and he has told me another interesting fact..

when he had his own business, with a fleet of lorries used for import/export, he did jobs all over europe..
after his grandfather had passed away, a few months went by, and my step dad did the board, and contacted a spirit, supposedly of his grandfather, who told of a contact in italy who owed money for a job, that had not been paid for.
sure enough he called the person and collected the outstanding dept, which was a few grand.. so worked out a good result.

Shame that doesnt happen more often.. I need money

i did it once but never again.

it was in 98. with 3 other people . it told us that a team starting with F.R.A. would win the world cup. and that the first letter of the lotto would be 1.

both of these turned out to be true. we quit out properly and that was that.

i don't usually believe in that sort of stuff so that's why i did it. but it worked perfectly.

don't think i would do it again though.
