Same here.

But when they scan your passport at US Immigration it brings up your criminal record.

Its a good job I went with my then girlfriend otherwise they wernt gonna actulaly let me in!
Does your "criminal record" include arrests when scanned in that context, cause it never presented me with a problem!

I never did that though when ive been to the states

That really is fucking ridiculous though, how can they justify persecuting someone who wasnt found guilty of anything!
Its a new thing. I went to the states 2 1/2 years ago and never had to do it. Only found out a few weeks before travelling, hence having to rearrange the trip.

Ah, makes perfect sense now then, i havent been recently.

Might apply for a ten year visa just in case work need to send me there, would be kind of embarassing having to say i cant go due to a "criminal record" (even though ive never been found guilty of anything!)

I dont think you have anything to worry about unless you "look" muslim.

beards/vails/turbans/dark skin etc..

They really are cunts at US Customs. Some bint on the metal detector even said my tshirt wasnt appropriate for a public place just because it said "My girlfriend is as dirty as this tshirt"

If you apply for a visa at the embassy, by default the give you a 10 year vias if approved. Thats what they gave me.

I know somebody who has been to the USA every year since 2004 and to three different arrival points with no problems. He was convicted for drink driving in 2004 before the first trip.

and he runs the risk of being refused entry into the country. Personally i would rather get my visa first than arrive in the States only to be told ive wasted all my money on a holiday i cant have

TBH i think its a load of crap. They should not know what goes on unless you have been flagged up as a "serious" criminal! Fook sake its nothing to do with the US

Havent the EU told the Americans they are not going to recive all the info they want and in future will only be sending selected info due to human rights etc?

Seems bollocks to me! Dont agree with it at all. America really is getting parinod.

Spoke to somebody from my work today... they have a driving conviction.. went to the American embassy in London on Monday...

They glanced at his form from the police then passed it back... (were not even bothered about it)

Asked him why he had a conviction? (cos he was pissed)

Asked him if he has ever been in jail? (no)

Asked him will he re-offend? (no)

All this took around 8hours of waiting, 10minutes of questions, then he granted him a 10year visa and said he'd have it within the week!!!
