Not forgetting tunned supercars. my friend is very good friends with a serious super car exotic car guru who is always encountering serious machines and he invites us down to days like AUTO ITALIA and we get to encounter these sorts of machines more than others and they've got cars even the the beat of us didn't know existed. one of them has got a 850 BHP ferrari F40 and that will fucking squash any and i do mean any jap car in striaght lines and deffinately around bends.
Madrod might be right about saying to not think fords are the best but then that goes for jap sports cars too.

hello all before you all starting to rant at me i own a typer scooby and im a member on scooby net i read the thread on s/n and pmsl at half of the coments you didnt deserve the abuse you got imo ive had 2 turbos 1 series one that cost about 14500 when finished and a concourse series two followed by an escort cos and all i will say is fiar play to ya i bet it tourqe steers like a bitch 
to answer your question a p1 is like the series 2 turbo it is a tamed version of the type r the suspension has been softened the gearing lengthend and the dccd removed it produced 276bhp 0-60 in 5secs and top speed of 150mph the type r was 276bhp 0-60 in 4.2 secs and top speed of 151mph
as a everyday car my scooby is more reliable but it is also 9 yrs younger than my turbos and 4 yrs newer than my cossie was and as for the twistys coment after owning both my escort coss was quicker round b roads than my scoob but after modding my scoob it is one off the fastest accelerating cars ive been in

hello lads just seen the post on SNET, i've had 5 RST's and loved driving all of them, still have a soft spot for any RS, and even tho i've been away from this site for the last year, from the first few days this site started i almost lived on here i never ever thought i'd own a scoob, and always be driving an RS but the day came when i had a drive of a m8's P1 which he was selling, and i had to have it, that was just over ayear ago and im sorry to say i've never looked back
snet to this site is world's apart the only ones that understand are the people that have own's RS's

Big difference between the RS boys and the Scooby boys is the RS boys don't tend to throw their toys out of the pram when they lose against something.
I've lost count of the number of times the smug bastard grin has dissappeared from the face of a Scoob driver and it's been replaced by a pissed off one because of being seen off by an old FWD Ford. I know I can't beat them through the corners but they thought they'd out do me on the straights first. It's only when they lose that contest the twisties get thrown in.
Personally I don't care what beats me. I will give full respect to a Micra if it showed me a clean set of heels.

Well without seeing the actual times for it running up the quarter or brunters its hard to say with absolute confidence, but personally i would put my money on Andy's scooby against an 850bhp Ferrari F40 all day long yes.
if we're talkin about bends then a standard f40 will cream the scoob let alone a 850bhp. the only thing i've heard of thats qwicker 0-60 excluding veyrons is pat doran's 1.9 sec fiesat but thats on different type of road

Car sounds v impressive. I have to say the Type R is the one that I wanted to buy when I was looking, but the gear ratios put me right off. Am I right in thinking that it has a very very short fifth gear? I am thinking of the STi V generation, which I think corresponds with the stuff you are talking about.
If I didnt do soo many Mway miles, I would deffo have gone for the Type R, cos I really liked the look of the 2 door.

Personally I like scoobys (never been in one though), but i'd still rather have an RSTurbo. Sadly I've never been in one of them either

now days the average scooby owner is the ford owner of yester year so to speak, where as these days your average RST/cossie owner is an older enthusiast after cheap performance, not something to go tear arsing around maccie D's carpark. so the tables have turned. speak to your average scooby owner about tuned fords and they think your joking when you tell them they'll piss all over there shit slow standard scooby, they really are that blinkered. Your average RST/cossie owner tends to have a bit more general knowledge where cars are concerned, and know what most things are capable of.
I can honestly say that round here I havent seen a chavved up ford for ages, I live 100 yards form NMS, so I see a few and they all are either standard looking or slight changes a non enthusiast would notice, where as EVERY scooby around here has lexus lights and a drainpipe exhaust with bling wheels (how rally esque
) so how they can slag of Ford escort owners is beyond me.

You donkey - I've had two cossies, and still have a 200block engine sat in my garage! I had huge fun with it starting as a show car, at the Pod with it, on track more times than I care to remember.
I've been an RSOC member since 1998, and have probably spent the best part of a small fortune building, running and maintaining, modifying, and enjoying my cossies.
I've also driven some very quick examples of nearly every Ford out there, from standard Fiesta RS Turbos, to 360bhp Focus RS, with everything in between. I've also been a passenger in some of the fastest cars out there and loved every minute of it.
I'm also a realist, and in this case, where RS Turbos are concerned, it's simple common sense.
Anyway, don't you drive a fuckin BMW?

i dont think rs turbos are shit, i just reckon that time has moved on, they were great in their day but obviously 15yrs later they still arent goin to be the best. its like anything. for example, wen the mondeo first come out car magazines were sayin how good it is. nowadays a mag right up would be full of little niggles about it coz the latest mondeo is so much better where its evolved over time. its bloody obvious really.
imo, u cant compare 2 cars that have a big tie gap between them like a 1990 cossie and a 2003 scoby for example
