Default help on wireless connection

put a wireless card in laptop and bought a router. Installed the card and seems ok, plugged router in and the card has picked up 2 connections, 1 says wireless ans 1 says atkinson. If i connect to atkinson its a very poor signal (even if next to router) but it works on the net, the wireless connection is strong but wont open net pages, havnt changed any settings in router as dont know what to change. on windows 2000 using a motorola sb5100 modem on blueyonder if that helps.

Any ideas?

At a guess atkinson is one of your neighbours so your logging into their connection and yours somehow still needs setting up.

Did you get a manual with it to help you do it correctly ?

As above, sound like your neighbour has named his wireless sytem but has maybe forgot to change the password to match his computer so as only he can use his wireless, basicly in default from new
Try conecting to wireless, thats probably for your router..........you will need to set your router up first before being able to view web pages. Drivers loaded in ok?
