My roll was quite high speed right up a grass bank, and then back down it. Roof came in a bit, but otherwise it held togethor pretty well. It was written off because the shell was twisted. As the bank was soft grass, the thing didn't even look too bad. It even drove - just like Chitty chitty bang bang though..! I just had cuts and bruises and a bit of whiplash.

They're not the safest of cars in an accident though. If that kind of thing bothers you though - Spend £250 and put a bolt in cage in it. BTW the Fiesta isn't exactly 5 star Euro NCAP rated either....

Must admit, I cant get anywhere near 42mpg from the fester either so it looks like the Saxo has it licked for mpg.

havng driven both i can honestly say, the fiesta feels like a fucking tank compared to the saxo. And with a dog-slow engine to boot, it just doesnt cut the mustard for a little fun machine.

A VTS with a few years under its belt and appx 60k will sell for between 4&5 grand. Money well spent IMHO, best little ringroad cars I have driven for ages, they love roundabouts and rev forever.

As for the stigma................. lower it and leave it there

if i was gonna spend that kind of money id either save up a bit and buy buffys, or id just buy a puma, probably quicker than a vts and a zs, looks a lot better and handles really well. and u dont have every cooooont laughing at ya when ya drive down the road, as a puma probably wont have neon washer jets

The Saxo has Citroen, Peugeot and Renault logos Stamped on most of its parts, so there aint nooo diference between em....

The zetec-s is better in every area than the saxo apart from straight line speed!

Steering, gearshift, driving position, interior, build quality and looks are much better than the saxo vtr or vts.Less common aswell

The Puma has an identical chassis to a Z-S, slightly wider track than a normal fiesta so it's unlikely the Puma handles better than a Z-S.

MattRS1600i, Puma 1.7 is faster than VTR (post 2000 model had 100bhp), slower than VTS. Puma does handle better than Zetec S, as wider front track and slightly stiffer shell transforms FWD's. Clio 172 Cup had just 20mm wider track than standard 172, lost a bit of weight mainly from mid/rear of the car, and this makes them miles more pointable, and fun to drive than standard Clio 172.

Big_Psi_4x4, If you hid the badge and drove both back to back - I think maybe you'd change that view!

I was under the impression that the Z-S shared the Puma's wider track.........point taken about the shell tho.
