Default Water Injection - Who uses it?

Just after some feedback with regards to above, might get Karl to fit it when he maps it.

Yep, I use it, Flojet 6.8 bar pump with two 0.6mm jets controlled by the ECU using the Ford strategy of coming in if the boost is above 7psi and the ACTs exceed 42°C .

Sounds good Mike.

Do you find it makes a difference, I suppose you dont really realise as its more of a precautionary thing?

Do I get it or not..........

It is not a precauitonary thing on my engine, as my engine will run fine without it. However, with high ACTs, the ignition is retarded, and although water injection loses you power, it doesn't lose as much as I would from the ignition retard without it .

If you are using very high Boost use the ERL Pump & not the Flojet, ive been there & done that & with Long Periods on the throttle the Flowjet got into a non-cope position. The Higher pressure ERL cured the problem completely. We are talking 2.5bar sustained.
Im stating Tested facts not having a go at Mike R.

Can anyone tell me how hard it is to fit?

Would it need to be fitted before the mapping session or can it be thrown on at any time?

Rod,
You're getting confused with the old Flojet pump, which needs to be shimmed up to cope with the pressure requirements of a big turbo (which you can do), or ALTERNATIVELY, I now ONLY supply the Flojet pumps with the correct pressure rating in the first place (a lesson learned as they say ). I think you will find that 6.8 bar pressure is more than adequate to cope with you paltry 2.5 bar sustained boost .

The postage on the tiny fittings is as much as a padded envelope and recorded delivery costs, so £1.50 .

Its easy to get confused at my age Mike .
The old Pump was 50psi ( 3.5bar) so Mike has solved the problem with the new pump, it sounds the answer & is more robust than the ERL.
I was just passing on my now out-dated info.

I ran with water injection for ages on my S2 and although it's still in place and ready to go it just hasn't been needed on it since I fitted the Pace front mount intercooler.

Might take it off and fit it to my Fiesta though as the chargecooler doesn't seem able to cope
