Default How to turn the passenger airbag off on a focus RS

need to deactivate the passenger air bag on the focus rs, hassel to keep putting my lad in the back, any help much appreciated cheers matt

Can't be done officially mate, I asked Ford, and they said no.

Don't know how it's done unofficially either, and you'd have to tell your insurance apparently.

The only way to do it is to unplug it, then fit a unit to con. the system into thinking it's still there, otherwise the warning light will stay on.
Same idea is used when fitting aftermarket steering wheels, it's not the sort of thing for temporary disabling though.
Apparently the Cmax can have a switch for passenger air bag disable.
It can be done in software by Ford dealers, but they won't do it.

i was to the understanding normal focus's had a key to turn it off but the focus rs didnt have this option it just had to stay on all the time

The c-max does have a disable switch, why it isn't fitted to all Foci is beyond me.

The wife has a TDCi, can't disable that either.

my dads gota 7 series Bmw and wanted to turn off a couple airbags (out 0f 16 ) because of a child seat. Bmw said they can but he will have to go there to get authorisation. I think this basically means you have to sign a disclaimer so there not liable if anything did happen.
