Default reg transfer

ive had a reg on a retention certificate for the last 4 yrs so thought its about time i put it on my car, prob is ive just declared mine sorn for the winter ,can i still transfer it or does the car have to be taxed?

Car has to have tax on it to transfer a reg as far as I know m8

just get tax,swap it over and then send the tax back.

lose a month or so but.....

looks like ill have to do it that way, or ill end up paying the retention fee again anyway

i always thought the car had to be taxed.

but when my old esccos got written off it took months for it all to go thru on the insurance side - they wouldnt allow me to transfer the plate, but when they eventually gave me the right to take it off my tax and also MOT had expired, i wrote to the DVLA, they just sent smeone round to chat to me and then allowed me to put the plate onto retention.

yep, mines mot'd so thats ok, if it can be sorn then thats great just have to put the other plate on retention till i decide whether to sell it or not

retention is £130 now,...

fucking cunts,...used to be £25.....

so 130 to hold for a year...
or 80 to change onto a car,.....hmmm....which should i do,....

no the £130 includes the transfer fee..so its not all retention

yes, you pay £10 for getting it on a retention cert,but that includes transfer onto another car.

so you can pay to keep it open for £25 a year until you want it to go on a car,then you transfer it over or sell it ontosomeone else with all the fes paid.
