Yep!! actually went aboard 002 in about 1967 when it was being fitted out, did a small ammount of work on Concorde.
Still working on Tornado, although mostly software simulation rigs .
Mike did the Tubular manifolds for both so is well qualified to comment on such things.

AFAIK most cracks in tubular manifolds are caused by the grade of material being used and its resistance to expansion and contraction, assuming its braced well enough to take the weight of a turbo etc.

I believe inconel is the grade of choice but its stupid expensive so most use 304 or 316 stainless. Therefore this is where most of the stories of cracked manifolds come from.
