Default Dealers can be a real pain in the arse UPDATED not happy

What is it with Main dealers and atitude,

twice i have very nearly lost my rag with the service manager i dropped my car of this morning and had mentioned i was keen on an Animal pick up truck not really expecting it then the service lady mentioned it to the service manager and he just glared at her and said they are not for people like me, she asked who are they for and he said people with L200 or similar, "great i'll have that black 9 on the forecourt then mate" he started muttering under his breath and said something about it not being his desicion prick,

My front tires more so the passenger side has gone bold on the inner edge and i truly mean JUST the inner edge the rest is fine, he told me it was always going to wear more there as we drive on the left and the way we go round roundabouts i said thats great mate but the car has 9k on it and 7k has been done in Germany and they drive on the other side so whats your reason now err well it is a little excessive i said it had been in 3 times for tracking and this had happened and i was not blaming them but when i had been dropped of before and even before i brought it i told them about issues with geometry they wanted to charge the misses for 2 brand new Yoko's with out me there , not fucking likerly so now they have it for the full 4 wheel lazer alignment and then will let me know,

I had it independantly checked and it is all to fuck so have told them that i am fully expecting them to except liabilty and replace the front tires free of charge ........ then they give me a courtesy car on empty with the light on i mentioned it to the sales man and he said well the last time you used a courtesy car you returned it empty i said "thats because i fucking filled it up myself"

I really am pissed of at the moment i am back on holiday not to deal with shit from garages especially after i told them there was a problem 6 months+ ago,

Mike

Called the dealer at 5:10 as it was getting a little late and the garage is 15miles away or there abouts, got put on to the service manager who had made the earlier coments,

Right sir everything is within Mitsu's tolerance's however they have suggested that we adjust one to 0 degrees, am assuming the nearside front toe but could be wrong, i then choose to inform him that i had had it independtly checked and that as luck would have it my figures did not look anything like his, to whch he sounded surprised that i had had it checked and that the figures were different,

He then mentioned that at the 4.5k service the tires should be swapped courner for courner and that is a mitsu recomendation, ok i said then why was not informed of this and why was it not done ? sorry sir i was not part of that conversation so i can not comment, he then proceeded to tell me that he would rather change 2 tires then 4 bugger me thats funny so would most people i said i would rather get the remaineding 2 k out of my tires and change them when they need to be changed because of fair wear and tear not an incorrect set up,

I then nformed him that i had mentioned before buying the car that i was aware of geometry issues with these cars and when it came in for the tracking i again mentioned it which he said there was a service report infront of him that suports this as they wrote it down,

it was left with i will carry out a 3rd independent check and then put the figures to them, i said i was not accusing anybody of lieing merely aying that as we both he and i agree that something is seriously a miss,

I offered the dealer a few choices 1 they fix it and fight Mitsu over it,
2 we both fight them over it and i ut 2 new tires on and fight to get the money back at a later date
3 i walk away from the dealer and get the car serviced else wear and get the geometry set up correctly and put the 2 tires on out of my cost
i informed them it was not a case of money it was principle to which he claimed to understand,

the saleman that sold us the car could see i was furious and has said he will come in tom on his day of and try and sort it out, even if the dealer has to pay for the 2 fronts

it is really a case that the dealer has done as much as he feels he should now he walks away which typifies this bloody country attitude to be honest its all about looking after yourself and no customer service,

I have a possible option to have it set up spot on but really do not see why i shold go down that road,

Every other Evo owners has not had this problem and if they did Mitsu would ignore it

Rant over for now

A few years ago I went to RC Developements with 2 friends and 2 Evo 6's..... they had a full geometry setup and boost/fueling setup (took ALL day to do both cars), both cars were completely different cars to drive on the journey home compared to the drive there so I was told!!!! Might be worth taking the car to a specialist to get a full geometry setup...

my friend (evo8 FQ340) had problems with the local mitsi dealer so i spoke to another friend who's father owns 'Wilsons' in Chadwell Heath, he got it booked in there & was over the moon with the service level he receved. he said it was well worth the extra hour to get there.

Steve/Matt i am tempted to have it set up i have been informed that i could get it done by a race team possibly but i am somebody of principle i want to prove that the car is all to fuck before i go out the way and pay to have it rectified else were, i hate being this way but if i just get it done then the dealer has possibly just got away with it (they may still be right but not likerly)

Cheers Mike

ring your local trading standards office and explain the problem. if they havnt already done so, they will open a new file on the garage and create a reference number for you! dont take it any further for now and go back and tell the main manager, not the service manager, the full story and mention trading standards...............say youd like your car sorting or you will take it elswhere and send the bill to the dodgy service manager, if it gets heated put it in writing to them. Also if you have heard this service manager make nasty comments about you. bring that up with the main manager too!!!

sounds like you got been ton a normal dealership mate with a performance car

9 times out of 10 the service managers aint that clued up about cars and are better with people than with cars

complain to the DP/manager and he will then have to take it to a new level, he will also sort most stuff out asap before the franchise gets told ect

i work at a main dealer mate and tbh i find that the salemen cause MORE issues for the customers by making bullshite comments to keep you on there side when all they do is let the service department deal with it after

ask any parts department what there main moto is and they will tell you " beware the sales department "

write letters to all people of issues you have and also foward the copy yo the next in charge and im sure that will sort stuff

good luck

Mike if you've got Yoko A046s on, remember that they aren't available in this country, so if they try and give you just 2 tyres, they will be different and Mitsi don't recommend having odd tyres.

Lynee that is also an issue as i was planning on putting the A0 68's on or another high end Yoko

It really has pissed me of but am sure there will be a decent out come,

I just want a number to call Mitsu on and talk the them about it as the service manager said there is no way i am getting 2 new front tires out of Mitsu and he claims to have spokern to them about the issue and they referred him to a news letter that they sent out about high speed test carried out on an oval in LHD drive cars and tire wear and that it can be used as the same for a RHD

no probs..
that'll be the main switchboard number I guess, but if you have a search around on the Mitsu UK website there are a couple of other numbers for personnel and export for example that may get you in the "back door" if you get fobbed off from the main entrance

Don't forget that you have no contract with the manufacturer or importer of your car and they have no obligation to help you, beyond that provided under warranty arrangements.

Your contract and any complaint under the Sale Of Goods Act and Fitness for Purpose has to be against the dealer who sold the car/did substandard work on the vehicle.

i work at a merc dealer and i think the policy is only geometry adjustments after very few miles and a very short period of time. would think most dealers are like that or have those policies with warranty anyway. and you have to be extremely lucky to get tyres out of them.

only chance i reckon is if you can find thats theres a specific problem with a few cars you may have some luck but at 9k you will struggle.
we change rear arms on a model where it makes the tyres wear unevenly and change tyres aswell but even that to a limited mileage

I run Bridgestone Potenza I think they are on mine. I have done over 10,000kms including a track type day and plenty of spirited driving. They are barely showing any wear and were on it when I got it.

I put it in to Mitsubishi here for a 30K service (bearing in mind this is kilometres not miles) and it cost the grand total of $210 (about 85quid), I was very pleased with it after but had a mate drop it off and collect it as I was interstate. I then ordered a spare key with remote on which had to come from Japan and took it back in to be cut against my orginal. I was told it would be 30mins so let work know that I would be slightly late.

1.5 hours later this young guy, prob about 20 runs in and hands the two keys over to the flustered service guy who I have been getting marginally agro at. I go outside to the car and this guy has been out driving my Evo to the locksmiths (bearing it mind it is a standard door locksmith for the key then it is programmed). Wasnt even informed so not happy at all, car now goes to a aftermarket tuner.

So, one good and one bad experience personally for me with Mitsubishi.

There are some posts on evolutionoz here about dealers being arses to people wanting to buy a IX.

On a side note, I had major customer service issues with my Lexus. A quick 3 page detailed letter to the Head guy in Australia, I had the local dealer management on the phone the same day to book the car back in and rectify the problems. Was most impressed but I think the sales guy lost his job which wasnt my intention as I also credited him for what he had done well. Problem was he was inexperienced and didnt have the get up and go to rectify the problems he had unintentionally caused.
