Default Insuring a Saff Cossie

Can peeps help me out in this.

what are the likely chances, and likely costs in insuring a sierra cossie 2wd @ 20 years old ??

im thinking out loud at the moment, but it is a possibility i could lay my hands on one, the only concern i have is the cost of insurance, well not so much the cost, the actual likeliness of getting insured !!

any help from peeps who have done it would be greatly appreciated

cheers

Xander

Both my brother and I have had stage 3 cossies at 20 years old.

I got mine because I saved, and worked hard for a no-claims bonus.

My brother got his by using my mum's insurance.

Still was quite a lot for both of us - I was Ł1200+ in my first year, with 3 points.

I insured the saff at 20 with 1 years NCB, 6 points, 1 fault claim (Ł4k value) and it cost me Ł1900 with Greenlight but that was by FAR the cheapest and like you suspect some companines wouldn't even quote at any price

Best of luck mate

Sorry mate it's gonna hurt at that age. Only thing I can suggest is some good lube for when the insurance man pulls your pants down

As said above limited mileage policy and loads of good security and not having it modded. You may find after just the first year the premium will drop to a more sensible level. My bro got his FRST at 20 and it cost Ł1600 to insure TPFT after just one year and an extra years NCB it fell to Ł930

yeah i know steve, but i think i can handle the insurance costs due to the price i'd be paying for the cossie !!

and its rather hush @ the mo, so keep it off topic

im 21 and got quoted Ł1300 tpft, but found it would be even cheaper to put it in the old mans name, get him 2 insure it for Ł300 a year, and i insure my rs turbo for Ł550 and get 2 drive any other car thats not owned by me

sabre only deal with brokers so ring a few
highway and zennith are other companies that are worth a try but they only deal with brokers so places like adrian fulx and hic should help
poss worth a try with greenlight and if all else fails by a cheapo nova or summot and get tpo cover on any other car not in your name and reg the cossie in ya mum or dads name

nomad - yes it is the "said" cossie your thinking of

rob - it still might be a plan if i cant get insured on the cossie, but i've grown extremely fed up of the fez of late, it is generally fooked and i wanna change !!

cheers for the input guys, if anyone does have contact info (ie- websites, and telephone numbers) to people they've used thatd be great, i really wanna sort it out and get a reasonable quote cos id be gutted if i miss out on this chance !! ill have to see wether the parents will let me insure it in their name if i cant myself ( the only problem is i wanna boost my NCB, and by doing that i wont be )

blimey they still got problems with "that" claim. i remember i tryed getting insurance on my current car (fiesta si) back in april with HIC, and they had those problems then. couldn't offer me around 40% of the discount i was entitled too !!

ended up with liverpool victoria at the mo, alrite for the fez, not sure about a cossie though, might have to ring them and try !!

ill keep plodding on, just hoping i can find a decent quote at the mo !! if i cant might try and get the parents in on the act for a while !!

rob- you know you'll be the 1st chap, dont worry about that !!
