I assure you john I don’t suffer from wheel since zoo Motorsport made me a custom gearbox cradle which has dropped and angled the engine slightly to aid traction, plus a set of his fully adjustable and rose jointed lower wishbones, you can adjust camber as well as castor. suspension and arms setup by Karl bromley.

Sean any more updates on your car mate ?

ballin 01-01-2009 06:48 AM

nicely dragged up, would love to see the power readings on a proper RR

Badman38 01-01-2009 08:00 AM

fook me this is an old thread, never used a decent RR so i doubt the power figure genuine, rebuilt in 2007 due to a worn thrust bearing and crane which was caused by the heavy clutch, so i had the a main cap machined to take another thrust bearing the camshaft was also worn but the machine shop pointed out to me that the double valve spring system i was running at the time was so heavy the engine would have trouble at high revs ( which it did) plus this killed the camshaft, now i run standard valve springs which work best with the newman solid lifters engine happily rev beyond 7000rpm, while the engine was apart i had the bearings and piston rings changed and many other bits improved on all thanks to HT howard in slough who r mechanical engineers not just engine builders.
when EA done the mapping on the S8 the engine was 10.4 at idle back then i had no idea what this meant but to be fair to paul i just wanted the car safe so i could run it at full power, i was'nt interested in the driveablity or fuel consumtion i then invested in a wideband kit fiecos dan sorted my mapping out on the s8 he educated me on what the wideband should read at idle and cruise and he timed up my cam modifyed my rear discs so i could drop down to 15" wheels.
i decided to dumped the s8 ecu and went for an L8 with all the msd add ons plus 850cc injectors, mapping not quite finished the clutch did not want to engage properly plus there was too much travel on the brake pedal i returned home parked the car on my drive and there where it sat for nine months....... i just lost interest
currently i am waiting for two tires to arrive from toyos so i can mot the car hopefully i can have the mapping finished in the early part of this year..

yes m8 i have ploughed too much money into the car just to give up i have nothing but problems but now i have found the company to build the engine right for once, stu will do the mapping i suppose once i have achieved the times and top speed i should be doing i will break the car and get myself something modern that wont be sure a money pit.....

Fiecos Dan 24-01-2009 09:21 PM
