Default importing 'stolen' vehicle from usa

right, got the chance to buy a 2006 f-150 double cab, fully loaded with every extra ford do, the larait ? spec engine etc, basiclly its the dogs bollocks, $40'000 worth of truck. but it has outstanding finance owing on it and has been looked for by repo company trying to reposess it, but its 'disappeared' and is therefore been classed as stolen.

im wondering what the score would be with importing this truck into the uk, and what the score would be with chassis numbers etc. on option is to bring the truck in as parts, would have the engine removed and crated up, then strapped to the bed of the truck. this avoids import tax (a vehicle over 2500cc is around 22%, parts arnt!) and im guessing it may make the import process easier, but theres still the regestration and sva thing...im fairly sure they check chassis numbers against american records to make sure its not stolen....

anyone got any info on this? its a family member of mine, due to major changes in situation, the truck hasnt been paid for and the person who the truck is regestered to is no longer in the country. i could buy the truck for a fraction its market value.

would it have to be 'rung' for it to be regestered in the uk?

You wont be able to import it mate as you have to have the certificate of entitlement (small A5 red certificate) prooving you the ownership of the vehicle. Without that US customs wont release it.

Just to summarise and add to what has been said:

You can't get it out of the U.S without "Clear Title" (no finance, no oustanding claims) Unless maybe it was in a container.
You can't avoid duty by dismantling it and shipping it in pieces, U.K C&E are not stupid, you'll still pay full duty even if the pieces don't add up to a full vehicle.
You can't register it in the U.K without Clear U.S title and a copy of the U.S Reg slip.,
and DVLA have telephones nowadays and can and do call other countries to check out vehicle identities.
It's not cc that determines duty rate, it's whether it's a car or commercial.
Cars are 4% any engine size, From the U.S.
What a pointless post this was in the first place, as if anyone was going to agree with it.

Waiting for next post titled, I've just been visited by plod and so has my relative in the U.S, how can WE avoid jail?

even worse then bring it to this country and try to evade paying duty
