Default MOT centre leaniancy

Got an MOT on the weekend, with working full time I`m not going to get time to change my CV boot

If I take the new boot kit to the test centre and explain will I be able to be let off and change it over the weekend?

Not sure what can be re-tested etc now

Cheers

Rich

If you get a tester who has a bit of compassion then maybe but if they follow the letter of the law (which most do now as the Ministry are SO tight) then they can't mate.

well maybe not, but its worth a try. as im sure they charge for a retest now. plus its not just a case of them checking the boot on retest they have to do a full retest including emissions takes a hour or so. they wont cut corners now has the mot authorities sit out side test stations and can log onto their computer and check what the tester is doing without even getting out of their motors to have a look.

fix it within 24 hours for a free retest.......

otherwise ten working days sees a partial retest

after that is a full retsest

If you havent got it changed (and you KNOW thats the only thing it will fail on) then realistically its pointless wasting your time going for the test.

I would seriouly consider moving the car somewhere off road and doing the job beforehand though. Only take 1-2 hours depending on how competent you are. I would also say get hold of some disposable gloves as CV grease is the worst substance known to man!
