I can't start the job until it has come back clear as it is in a school!

I have tried phoning the school but nobody gets back to me

It is starting to do my head in as I have been sat about for weeks when I probably could have found another job and started it in this time

I work in a college and was able to start straight away.

Saying that i was working in a college up North before here so i may have been covered by the CRB check from my previous employment.

I would do as above, try get in touch with the CRB office and chase it up

I have tried calling HR for the council as it goes through them!

It is just annoying as if I did have a job at the moment it would be close to 3 3 months before I could actually start the new job..which is shocking!

Now starting a new job midway through a school term is gonna be hectic

mine took about 6 weeks.

however, if you have done any sort of military service, it may take MONTHS.

Right CRBs

Biggest factor is have you moved around, if you have been at same address for 5 years its quicker, there taking 3 weeks at mo with no hassle, if you moved a few address upto 6 weeks.

If you foreign quicker as they only check back to when you arrived, and cant check abroad.

Only the countersignatory of the company or place of work can contact as they have to give there ID to find how the application is going

Most places will not allow you to start until you have all clear

CRB usually waiting for the police reports, this is usually the delay, they do not chase them until after 8 weeks from recieving application.

Any other info just ask, i have put 50 people through in 5 years

when i first started my job as an auxiliary nurse on the community looking after disabled adults i was allowed to start without CRB clearance which tbh i think is a fookin joke, it took 11weeks for mine to come through, obviously the NHS are very trusting though they did it with another new colleague who failed to inform them that she had been done for fraud and she had already started her position before clearance too..... id imagine someone getting bollocked for that

can take a while though with busy periods

I've had many, take varying amounts of time.

If its an Enhanced Disclosure (working with Kids etc) they take ages....mine did anyway about 8 weeks.

However the Basic Disclosure are much quicker, best bet is not to go through the English one, but get it from Disclosure Scotland, film the form out online, not much £ and it will be with you within 10 days
