yes it runs fine , and it is NOT illegal, as long as you declare the tax duty on it. You can even get the form from the post office for it - and the engines actually run BETTER on veggie oil as it has a higher octane rating than diesel

If you pay the duty, which was at 22.5p a litre when I looked into setting up my own filter plant, then you will have no problems
Infact, I may still look at installing my own filter plant

You'd make a fortune, or save a fortune, whichever way you look at it, if you're running a diesel theres massive gains to be had.

NO ITS NOT..
If you were caught running Red Diesel in a car or van on the road you would be fined heavily for it and could even be jailed.
However with Veg Oil... make sure its new clean oil and you arent putting it neat into a HDI type engine.
Basically its too thick and wont atomise properly, so you need something to thin it, like parafin or glycerine.
If its an older style diesel engine then no probs.
As for the fuel duty, unlike Red Diesel there is no trace left in the fuel system so there is no way of knowing how much you have used.
It is purely on an honesty basis at the moment, if you send the Customs & Excise a 'contribution' say £50 a mont, they will send you a receipt for the money and if you are stopped you are in the clear.
Its an absolute headache for the Customs & Excise because there is no way of knowing how much you are using so they cant tax you.
And they cant load the price of veg oil with a fuel tax when people are using it to cook food with.... as its not being used as a fuel.
And people keep banging on about how our oil reserves are running out make a mockery when every diesel vehicle could run on veg oil tomorrow with additives in some cases.
Like these green twats banging on about Carbon Dioxide emmissions...
Didnt they do biology.... havent they heard of photo-synthisis ? Plants converting Carbon Dioxide to Oxygen overnight.
Just grow more fookin plants / trees you dumb fooks !!!!!!!

as per neil, new style derv cars need a good mix as the pumps aint up to it or summut, but old cars you can run on 100% veg oil but can be a cooont to start if 100% veg
smells good tho
smells good tho

just contribute the minimum possible tax and your fine... asn eil says they cant trace how much you have used,,,
i was running on 70%veg and 30% diesel in my van and in ran and started perfect... just got sick of the smell tbh

I can't belive you have to contribute "tax" on it tho!!! I'ts VEG OIL FFS! You already pay VAT on it!!!!
Just goes to show that the money on fuel is in tax, not the cost of oil from the refinery's right?

my mate runs an astra diesel on veg oil
he puts 25 litres oil in and mixes it with 10 pounds worth of diesel in and that nearly gives him a full tank...
works out to nearly a full tank for about 20 quid

My mate runs his 1.7td astra on it, wont start on cold mornings but is fine other than that.
I guess a mix would solve that problem though.
Interesting concept if what Neil says about the "honesty based system" is true.

If you aquier used oil from say a chinese take-away, no money changing hands, how can you pay duty on something that doesnt have a price?
Ive heard used oil is better too, obviously filtered.
Also, If you run a Taxi, had a seperate tank in the boot for veg oil, with some sort of system for switching fuels easily and quickly. . think how much money you could save!

so if i go to the post office every month, declare that im using say 25 litres of veg oil as fuel a month and pay my £11.25 in fuel tax, keep the receipt in the car, and if i get stopped and the mention it, i produce the reciept and am in the clear and within the law?
got a 1.5 corsa derv at the mo, on an L plate, already does like 60+mpg, so would cost me litterally pennies to get to work and back using this stuff! the thought crossed my mind when i bought the car but never thought of actually doing it!
get the forms from the post office yes?
