Default Camera Buffs advice needed

I am looking at buying a decent camera i have seen a Nikon D50 which looks very nice ideally i would like to stay under £400 but if there is something just over that that is worth the extra then i will bend,

I am not brand loyal just after a very good camera

Cheers mike

Look at the canon eos350 or D70, the D50 is excellent but how advanced are you with SLR, if your novice look at the cannon, also Sony new onment to be good

Depends what u want from it.

D50 is the cheapest on the market (at least, over here it is) and is a reasonably good camera.
Canon 350D (or wait a little and get the new 400D) is the best quality in that price range.
Nikon D70s is not as good as the 350D and more expensive.

Don't look at the sony alpha 100, it's shite and way overpriced IMO. It's just a rebranded (old model) Konica Minolta camera.

Also, if you want to get more serious later on, Canon has better lenses than Nikon.

I don't know about camera prices in the UK, but I can highly recommend the 350D.

You talk alot of thrash here m8...
Sony is not shite... and the 350D i NOT the best camera....
They are all good cameras and what you choose depends on preferences.

I would choose a Nikon D70s with the 18-70DX lens over the Canon 350D, this is down to lens quality, grip, colour balance and pure user friendlyness.
Megapixel is no indication of quality..

The best advice I can give you is go to a shop which has all off the wellknown brands.
Then try them out there. How do they feel in your hand, which is the easiest in operating. how is shutterlag. what about startuptime.
I'm still very happy with my D70. great for static pics but for track pics a DSLR is even greater with some good lenses.
The advantage of a DSLR is you can change lenses. You can also extend your range in lenses at the time, secondhand you can find some toplensen for a moderate price.
Disadvantage is you have to carry them around with you.

Succes with your choice

Grtz
