RS Snobbery.....

oops
I've re read it. so..
The point is all the owners of TT conversions compare them to Cossies. If you didnt then no one would say anything, but how often do you read someone saying "its cheaper/more reliable than/NEARLY as fast as a cossie"
Its almost as if by having one of these add on kits you're in someway saying you are better.

Agree with what Rich says there, all the bloody time when TT XRs get mentioned its always the "cosworth performance for none of the cost" thing all the bloody time...
And then THEY moan about snobbery!

Never better than an origanal cossie, never tried to say its better or quicker.
However people have laughed in the past and said "2.0 8valve with a turbo, whats the point).
What the point is that cossie parts and cossie insurance are both affected by the cosworth tax. (things cost double).
I wanted a nippy car, sapphire shape but not a cossie because of the cost and when i bought the sapphy i was 19 years of age.
It hasnt got the power of a cossie as its only 192 bhp with 225 Ilbft torque but what the hell.
Its mine, its not got a dodgy past and if something breaks it cost about Ł5 to fix it.
I dont really winge or complain each to themselves.
If you asked me what i would buy tomorrow with Ł10,000 in my pocket it would be a mint 2wd or 4wd cossie for about 7k and leave 3k for emergencies.
Theres nothing i would like better but until i have 10k burning a hole in my pocket a shonky 8v with 192bhp is what it is

I dunno, who gives a fook, it's how you feel yourself that counts. I was never happy I spent so much on my TT XR4x4 although I did love it. I did beat a Cossie in it once in a straight line drag but it did little to console the fact I got completely wasted by another a week later. Should have spent the money on a Cossie but then it would have been stolen in days.
I'm a car fan by heart and never want to be sucked into the scene which comes with some marques. I see people all the time who buy into a certain type of car and take it up as a religion.
Maybe non-cossie and non-RS owners get a little too defensive sometimes, who knows.
Lets face it, even within the RS scene itself the FRST and RS1800i owners take a bashing off others, then within the cossie scene people knock the Saphires or small turbo Escorts, it just goes on and on. It's just something about life that sucks.

Jesus, the way they talk makes me laugh. They (well a lot of them) truly believe their car will destroy everything. I even heard a guy compare his prodrive edition Subaru (which granted is a quick car with around 300bhp or so) to a well known supercar saying "It wil only feel as fast as my Scooby"
