any pipes or anything at all on the heating side getting warm?

If nothing at all, and no room stat, then either control gear or the motorised valve for the heating side. Does anything click or whirr when you switch the heating on and off?

Default boiler

Sounds like diverter valve on boiler, dont quote me on that though. On a combi the diverter valve can sieze up cos it made up of a brass valve with a diapraghm(large rubber washer) inside and these tend to become brittle and sieze up. The preset postion its in is for hot water, so thats why your hot water works. Combis are a nightmare, I just fit them, dont repair them yet so it could possibly be something else.

If it is that? a diaphragm only costs a few quid then about 60 odd quid for the engineer to fit it. The shell of the diverter valve (the brass part) should be fine as the boiler is only 3 years old. They could turn up and it be somethimg else, but diaphragm sounds like most likely cause. By the way the pump does come on when heating is turned on doesnt it? does not make any strange noises?

Feel the central heating pipes a couple of metres from boiler and you will feel water flowing through, then pump is fine.

the boiler has now gone even madder. When you turn the heating off and turn to heat the water, the heating comes on and we get no hot water. Turn it the other way then we get water but no heating when the heating is supposed to be on.
The heating aslo does not come on with the set time on boiler. I came back from Donny on sundat to find the whole house at 83c!!!!!!!
