I just bought one Jake ![Wink](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif)
I drove it home just before i came offshore so only been in it once. Was a 150miles drive home and did it on Ł15 of fuel
First impressions are that its a cracking wee motor! Nice enough to drive and with a wee bit of poke about it.
I too set about to buy a run about up to 2k and started looking at 106's. they are effectively the same car and not worth the extra imo. Now i have the saxo i maybe even prefer it looks wise too
Luckily mine is STANDARD and not boy'd up at all...good luck finding one similar![Big Grin](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_mrgreen.gif)
I've heard all the neon jokes etc but hey at the end of the day its still a "quick", "cool" car
Thanks to Dave120 for selling me his![Wink](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif)

You need to drive one and make up your own mind mate.
In the grand scheme of things, they are utter wank
But for 1500-2000 you can get a pretty good condition vts, handling is pretty good standard, not too slow, fun to drive, and there not that unreliable, and wont cost too much to run/insure, and if it goes tits up, you can get a full engine/box for 300quid, and the rest of the parts are shit cheap

Do tell Tiff, or are you talking about the Mondy?
What kind of power can be had out of those 306 D-Turbos? Everyone bangs on about them.

If it was my money I'd be going for the 106 Rallye [you can pick up a 50k one in good nick for Ł2k!!]
My brother has one and its a cracking car. All the handling and of the Saxo without the boyracer stigma in my opinion!!

out of alot of the cars ive driven, i would say the vtr ive driven is certainly one of the most fun, felt very direct, handeled very well, loads of fun
build quality and interior is a bit dubious, but you know that when your buying one, and its not something you buy one for to be honest
out of everything in that group i would say its the best bet

ps try www.saxosportsclub.com as i found a few for sale on there. Watch out though because if/when you post you will feel OLD. When i posted asking about insurance i was told i was a "whinging oldie"
1 lad said i should be lucky because his vtr costs over a grand TPFT
I can insure cossie, saxo and my bike for less

Nope, a Polo GTi. Only after a long period of unemployment that destroyed my credit rating I bought the XR2

When, in 600 years, my credit rating is repaired I'll buy a decent car again

Saxos aren't too bad but around that price range you'll be buying a tired one
For that money [if you don't fancy a diesel in the end] I'd be looking at an older style CRX V-Tec with 150+ bhp

Your missing the point with TD Its heavier car than the VTR but through the gears a slightly tuned TD will murder a vtr imo

I had a Saxo VTS Mate, was a cracking little car, loved every minute of it !.
But it did break a few times as they are a bit fragile..
I would go for a Pug 106 XSI 1.4 or a Zetec S Fezzy Tbh......
Inusrance is silly on the VTS to, and the VTR is a Xr3i in drag ..lol..
Al.......

I had a VTS for 3 years, gave it absolute death and the only ever thing it needed was an alternator.
Absolute cracking little car!
You won't find a more fun/reliable car for the money imo.
