I hate to say that I let my old XR3i run out of oil once and drove to Cardiff and back, which for me is about 500 miles, and it didn't miss a beat! I filled it up when I got home and it was fine for as long as I had it!

Though i can remember my old onion! i drove it about 30miles home then when got home thought it sounded a bit tappy! looked and there was no oil in it Well none on the dip stick so must of been a fair bit in the sump still other wise boom lol

They were proberly using " miricle oil" I once saw it advertised on those cheesey advert channels on sky, this engine was being allowed to run with the cranckcase etc removed and then they poured sad onto the tappets and it ept going. well for the whole 30 secs u saw of it (prob seized so they cut most of the film)also teh american presenters were a bit
