After reading a thread on here about "The Dark Side Of The Rainbow" - an audio sync'ing of Pink Floyd's "Dark Side Of The Moon" with the Wizard Of Oz DVD (read more here - http://members.cox.net/stegokitty/ds.../the_setup.htm ), I decided to check this out and downloaded a fully sync'd up version : The Dark Side Of The Rainbow Master Edition in Dolby 5.1 Surround Sound;
"Digitally remastered multi-channel sound giving a whole new perspective to listening to history's greatest classic rock album,
Pink Floyd's The Dark Side of the Moon."
Well, apart from it being quite interesting to spot the references and sync's in the film with the music, what is more stunning about this is how the music album has been fully spilt into 6 channels and is a TRUE 5.1 remastered effort.
"CAUTION: If you do not have an audio system that is capable of 5.1 surround sound, do not bother with purchasing this version as you will be sorely disappointed. The sound REALLY IS broken up into separate channels, so with a regular audio system, what you get is missing music!"
I didn't read that bit before playing it on my computer (2ch stereo) to see what it was all about. Straight away I noticed the music sounded "lacking" - so I took it downstairs and bunged it in my DVD player hooked up to the 5.1
HOLY SHIT. It sounds INCREDIBLE
The 5.1 encoding is superb, and you are SO much more involved in the album than ever before. I cannot describe it, but it is simply so so so perfect. Wow.
Pink Floyd re-released DSoTM on SACD (Super Audio CD) for the 30th anniversary, and now I have a new DVD player that can play SACD's, am I definitely DEFINITELY going to buy this one, as it is also a full 5.1 remix.
So if you have the ability to search and download this NON COPYRIGHT media then I advise yo uto do so, if only to listen to the album in full 5.1!
As a bonus the disc also contains the entire 24min track "Echo's", also remastered to 5.1, along with a 5 min segment from The Wall, again in 5.1 - and whoever made this disc knew very much what they were doing as the remix and reproduction is simply breath-taking![Clap](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/9c-clap.gif)
That is all

According to the link I posted, there is a version available that plays both 5.1 and downmix to 2ch stereo - I just happened to get the 5.1 from bittorrent (nb to admin/mods - this is a NON-COPYRIGHT'ed piece of media) - you would need to do a search for DARK SIDE OF THE RAINBOW to find it - I am not allowed to post the link here on PF.
