really all joking aside, its good fun but seriously,R+D are tossers to deal with, thats been shown time and time over,
factory group A cars only used the FFD stuff after having nothing but bother that many, most, tons of 4x4 cosworth owners are currently trying to live with or get around, cosworths had a huge transmittion problem in the early 90's so they spent many millions getting it right, and get it right they did with FFD and then EXTRAC yes it wasnt cheap but it fooking worked, thats what counts!!
many tried and still try to copy them but its all inferior.ive owned over 100 escort cosworth rally cars now from clubman to ex works group A so have seen it all and used it all, even R+D say dont use their 6 speed dogbox without the clutch?wtf?its a dog box isnt it?some are lucky and last, others dont get past stage one,its a lottery, and we all know their arnt many winners in that.

if your running a big power cosworth you need the correct kit,its been proven on the world stage, its fact,if you cannot afford to then let me sugest a mitsubishi evo, very strong very fast and very reliable,

me personally,if you cut through my arm ive got ford stamped right through like a stick of rock and thats where i will stay,so its only FFD for me,if it costs a little more so be it,what price peice of mind and doing it right.

dont take offence martin.

Thanks for the advice, yes I can afford the FFD gear but choose not to.. I would rather do my own thing as it's more suited to what the car will be used for. Just because I don't rally my car does not mean I don't have a clue. No offence taken btw.

I can price the gearbox in my car for comparison..

6 speed sequential, dog engagement rated at 1000hp is £6500 plus vat brand new you then need my belhousing and a skyline active centre diff and you then have 2wd or fully adjustable 4x4 ..

i for one am waiting with baited breath to see how this box performs in a cosworth, on paper its very cheap for what you get, i know its been proved to work vry well behind he 6 cylinder, but if equally as good will certainly work well for your purpose

spoke to mr sing about that last week and he tells me if you casn change gear ok with the h pattern without any problems sequential is un nesssasary, its only for the lhd car drivers who cannot use their right hand on a gear stick,so thats most then, luckily iam very used to lhd cars so h pattern will stay for me.

martin very sure!!!!!!

why have you bolted it to a standard engine?
standard mounts?
standard sump?
standard size diff?

surely the flex alone of them engine mounts is going to render the fancy gearbox pointless?

now your going to tell me thats not the motor/spec your useing arnt you?
next thing your going to tell us your useing standard hubs and rack etc?

i can see a classic of whats going on here, martin has the appoach ( in his sport) if it hasnt broke why use something else- which always works for me, but with the some of the ( mounts etc) stuff your using we woulnt make the end of a stage ( in our sport)

certainly isnt superior attitude.

i mean im down to my last 500k in the bank now, just wondering when my next months 100k pay packet will arrive

like the post regarding the alloy std front crossmembers

sorry mate but i'm going to awkward and not have that either... if those mounts will hold the engine in place during a multiple roll then i would gamble that they would last til the end of a stage!! Also if you took the time to have a good look at the mounts you might then see that even if the bush were to fail the engine would still stay located... just like yours!
