Hi! It depends on which gearbox you use. I have converted mine, but i use a MT 75 gearbox.

I just saw a post by BAILEY 1 and he was talking of the same thing but on an escort cosworth to 2wd, would there be much difference on the saff?

To do the job properly you would need all of the 2wd running gear, fairly easy conversion to do,you need to get a prop made and fabricate a gearbox mount for the drivers side of the tunnel.....

Give me a shout if you need any info.....

I will be taking some decent res pics of the underside of mine when it is finished and posting them up to help people who want to convert thiers in the future....

Excellent mate, why do you need the prop made, does the 2wd one not fit, do you change the rear beam too?

cheers

the rear prop is smaller so it will fit the escort.

if you are using the saff shell then a 2wd prop will be ok,no need to alter.

you change the rear beam to a 2wd one if you want a 7 1/2 inch rear diff, the 4x4 beam uses a 7 inch diff.

Sorry fella.......As Dave says the 2wd prop fits the saffy shell no probs, you only need to make one if you are going 2wd on an escos..

I use my MT 75 and have over 400 bhp with no problems, and then you have the right gear stick and synchromesh on reverse too! I let you know when my gearbox breaks, and if it does i get a new one on the scrapyard for 150 quid.
