Thanks Johnny. I don't read it like that and I really hope people realise I am not like that.
But I am sorry that it now looks like I have caused a problem for Nutter
He is a top bloke and didn't deserve to get dragged into it. Apologies Jon.

Didnt Steve Scott pass Dingy TWICE in one session at Ford Fair?
Silverstone just showed the difference in class when the WRC cars were on track.
Proper cars, with 100k+ builds, in my eyes there is no comparison to the modified road cars.
Dingys car did look fast at Donnington, however there was no Scotty, no Stuart Whyte, no AM sport escorts and no Andrew Gallagher to name a few, as they were racing in the ford Saloon championship in Anglessey.
The way the track looked would have been a totally different story and that is the bottom line.

Dingy was one of the fastest road car at Donno that day, lets praise him not knock it .

ps. defending Dingy was easier than I thiught.

To be fair on the experienced driver front it does have to be said that he knows what hes doing. When he took my car out a couple of years back he was doing some big boys (I have the now unimpressive 330 bhp).
To the point that when I was filling up on the way out a lad said hed watched me all day and couldnt believe how much I had improved (like I was gonna tell him it wasnt me driving, the joy of crash helmets ) He asked about power and I said stage 3. He was amazed. All down to Dings driving.
And before the slurping comments, I am usually the first one to slag off, pick fights or generally abuse him

i have seen on a few diffent sites now about dingys car at the weekend from ppl who did not even know whos car it was
althou i was not there sounds like he had a really good setion and was one of the if not the fastest car on the day
WHO give's 2 fucks if a 100K race car would be faster
dingys car is a awsome road car that is used on the track
not a race car thats used on track days making themselfs look really good againest road cars

Dingy is claming, other people said, he was doing times that would put him on terms with Steve, Stewart, Chris etc..... so of course people are gonna make comparissons! Of course having said that the Fords Saloon boys run on ROAD tyres and Dingy was on full slicks.

This is quite interesting, getting back on topic, Steve Scott had the fastest lap of the race in the Ford saloon car championship in may, at Donington park; 1:25.127 And it was dry. And a qualifying lap of 1:17.058. Just goes to show how fast Dingdong is around there

There was a session on Sunday where I spend around 3 or 4 laps behind Dingy & a 3dr I believe to have been Lee(Tib). From memory the track was reasonaby clear.
I have viewed incar footage from a later session where clear lap times are consistant at 1:25.
I know that Dingy & Lee were lapping FAST & marginaly faster than myself however it would not have been as much as 2 or 3 seconds.
Dingy was indeed driving very well as was Lee however I would not put the laps in the 1min teens.

ok how do you lot define a 'RACE CAR'???
Does it have a cage? Race seats and harnesses? Coil overs? Big Brakes? Big horse power? Different suspension pick up points ie five linked etc...?
Surely if thats how you all define a race car then nearly every fast, perpose built track car is a race car?
End of the day what sets a 'race car' apart from a 'track car' is that the owner is prepared to race it and put his times and skills to the test for everyone to see in the form of qualifiying and race results, rather than the constant pub talk of 'oh if i was racing.................'
as for cost and some claiming there's 100k in some of the escort cossies race cars - wake up!!!! have you seen the price of some of the Mk1 & 2 escorts out there??? I'd like to bet dingy, martin hadland, mike rainbird, john nutter etc... have got more money in there 'track' cars than most of the competitors in all of the club racing championships in the uk!!

Don't think this ripping chunks out of each other should be done on a public forum - Stu - perhaps its appropriate to prune the thread of all the shit as I'm sure people dont want to see it!!!!

If I am going to get dragged into this Nutter please get the facts right.
Donnington in May of this year I qualified in pole on a 1.17 the track was slippery due to it spitting of rain (lap record for Ford Championship in the dry by Gareth Lloyd is 1.16.7 I was less than a .25 of a second off this pace on a wet track). The race was a complete downpour on full wets with my best lap being 1.25, this was shown on Motors TV in Autosport and on Ford Racing website all showing it was totally pissing down.
As for last year I qualified with a brake problem and cars off everywhere and yellow flags so no quick laps were achieved. I was amazed that I still got pole on a 1.20. As for the race I got a good start and pulled a good lead on the first lap, after this I settled into a steady pace of 1.19's which was quick enough for a healthy lead, I turned the boost down and short shifted and won easily.
Donnington is renowed for the change of grip on the track, this is due to the fuel being dumped by aircraft flying over. I have tested there 2 days before a race meeting with no change of weather and there has been as much difference as 2 seconds a lap in times.
Fair play to Dingy he has a quick car and was obviously going well at the weekend. Wish I had been there to see all the action have to wait until next year.
Regards Steve Scott

but you can not get a time on a track day with traffic,
remember its overtake on straights only and on the left, and no overtaking on the crainer curves
ask marco about overtaking on the right down crainer curves as he got black flagged and frown off track for doing it!
so how you going to get a clean lap?
even i have found qualifing in a race you get people in your way most of the time.
