Default Cone filter sizing????

Does it matter how big the filter is?

Just wondering as I keep hearing on sites people making comments like "Get the biggest you can fit". Wondering why having a big fook off cone would be any better than a smaller one?

The likes of K&N rate filter sizes for air flow/power capacity. Depends on the power of your car.

It does matter - more than most peeps would believe.

I used to think "wouldn't it be good if air filter manufacturers rated their products by BHP?"

I.E. what size filter for the BHP that my car produces.........then discovered that "Green Cotton Filters" DO list the max BHP each of their filters are "good for":

My thinking is why put a dirty great Cossie group A cone filter on a Fiesta RST when the K&N cone designed for the car seems quite up to the job

I was about to mention that Green filters list bhp figs for their universal filters.
