Had this happen to me, another modified Cossie came up behind me flashing his lights, knew who it was & pulled (440bhp) to the left, he overtook a row of traffic & turned across the traffic at the next roundabout & disappeared.
Next day he was boosting, I blew that supposed fast Cossies doors off, must admit they did vibrate a bit when he came past. The local lads all assumed it was true. Fast cars cannot race on the road, end off, mine can reach 185mph in a 1/2 mile for fuck sake.

 

Im afriad it has to be said a standard cossie could not touch any standard scooby let alone p1 in anyway shape or form! Albeit round a track or in a straight line!

 

 

i had this round my way when the estate was up and running, never used to tank it unles i had to around the local ways (too many tea leaves about) but when i did give it some it used to go a long way
so, anyway, one day i was in a bit of a hurry and blasted away from the lights at a roundabout, i was totaly in the wrong lane (white hart roundabout on the hayes bypass if you know that neck of the woods ) so i gave it full pastie from the lights and was gone before anyone else knew what was happening
about 2 months later i was in halfords looking for an oil filter and the guy behind the counter was chatting away and he asked what i drove and i told him and he asked about what body it was in "you running it in a 3 door of a saph?" and when i said "an estate" the look on his face was a classic
he came out with "there is no way a car that looks like that has any right to be as quick as it is"
word of mouth and all that and i never had anyone giving it some after that, even the ferrari lot down the road don't give it beans in their customers cars (the customers do but they ain't as quick as all that )
when i hear of all these people that say "yup, beaten that, beaten that, dusted that, et etc" i always take it with a pinch of salt because you never know if the other guy is trying or not

now, if the scooby driver was on here as well and said "we had a bit of a silly time and i couldn't catch matey oy over there in his cossie" it would be much more enlightening because you'd know what each driver was doing

there are, at a psuh, 6 different yb versions available (if you count 2 sets of 3 doors, 2wd saph, 4wd saph, big and small turbo escos) and yet there are more flavour of standard scooby than hienz so thats a bit of a silly statement
if you were to say "a standard 3 door couldnt touch a startard "inster multi lettered acronym here" scooby" then that would be a much fairer statement

and besides, we are talking about a moded car here against a standard one, alsmot like saying "my astra is quicker than my mates nova" there are no clearly defined goalposts so there is not a lot you can compare with

 

Get real.... What do you think underwriters base figures on, random ones pulled out of a hat?

Sorry, but these stories aren't real unless they are related to timed events, etc... (totb for example), or, two mates having a go and able to share the results afterwards.

I have been overtaken a number of times by boy racers simply because I couldn't be asked... I bet they were posting about how they blew a cossie away.

It's not about the love of the Fords or not, I wouldn't have kept my cossie over 7 years if I didn't love it (well, like it..., it's not a woman is it).
I am however realistic, my 15 year old car isn't a patch on the newer metal out there, unless I spend stupid amounts of money making it so, then I might as well have bought a two year old car...

It doesn't matter how much I love it, it won't change a thing.

They are just that chum stories, the newest Cossie is now over 10 years old & the Sierras are now pre-war. A similarily Specced EVO or Scooby will eat them alive & thats a fact.
Ask Lynn or Mark to compare a Cossie with a similarily Specced EVO, fact is you cant as they will tell you. Cos we drive Cosworths dont make them the Jap conquering masters of the road some of you lads would like.

And buy what? a 1.2 corsa will still do 100mph, meaning your licence is at threat.

Its all about self discipline, owning a fast car is about enjoying it, find a time and a place and all is well.

PS: Met a chap yesterday who saw my 4x4 parked next to my brother in law's EVO VIII, he said, "your cossie will piss all over the evo won't it".

Well, I don't mind saying it, I didn't buy a cossie to try and kill every jap car out there, it's a car, I enjoy driving it, and I don't need to measure myself against everything that comes up behind or in front of me.

Speeding we are all guilty of that, but its this racing & then bragging about it when you have no idea what you were actually racing. If it had been Andys Scoob or Kevs EVO you would have been watching a Spec disappearing in the distance & kept very quiet about it. Enter a Daddy Thrash & challenge the best of the Cossies before you start on all this Jap crushing nonsence.

I don't drive like a twat but I do enjoy the odd tear up. It's so satisfying watching somebodies face drop as they get blown away by a car they think is so inferior to their *insert car here*.

I could have an M3, Impreza or Evo tomorrow if I so chose to but I love my Ford's and that is why I have a pair of them and a runabout. I like th efact that people underate them so much, it makes driving them so much more fun.

You can hammer your car without driving like a prick, time and a place and all that

 

Totally agree with the above, I could have got an Evo Impreza M3 but I got a cossie. If a new evo wasnt better than a 15 year old car something is seriously wrong. see Jeremy clarkson doing one fingered powerslides in a evo other day, wot a drivers car
